Description
Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg, LLP is a mid-sized Chicago Loop Law Firm seeking a Jr. Paralegal for their Intellectual Property practice group. This position will specialize in trademark matters. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare and file U.S. and coordinate global applications for patents, trademarks and service mark registrations Use of the USPTO’s online filing systems, including: TEAS, the Assignment Branch and the TTAB (Trademark Trial and Appeal Board) Keep attorneys apprised of upcoming deadlines and working with them to advise clients status updates to clients Review and manage due dates in docket Recordation of trademark registrations Correspond with foreign associates at all stages of prosecution Prepare docket portfolio reports and discussions with lawyers regarding upcoming deadlines and requirements in the US and worldwide Trademark clearance searches and trademark watches QUALIFICATIONS: Exposure to IP practice area support. E.g., IP Secretary, Clerk, Docket, etc. Paralegal Certificate required Bachelor’s Degree preferred Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills Must be detail-orientated with the ability to manage multiple priorities and track extensive details The ability to prioritize workload, assignments and client needs The ability to adapt to change, balance competing demands and function as an integral part of a fast-paced team environment Self-motivated, exercise sound judgement and demonstrate effective planning, problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with personnel and to handle confidential information sensitively and discreetly Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) is required PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
