Insurance Recovery Paralegal

Barnes & Thornburg LLP seeks an experienced paralegal to join our nationally ranked Insurance Recovery Practice Group and to assist other business litigators. The ideal candidate will be organized and comfortable with business records. Knowledge or experience with insurance is not necessary. Responsibilities generally involve case management; review, annotation and organization of insurance policies and other case documents; and preparation of documents. Responsibilities may include: Develop comprehensive Excel schedules detailing key aspects of insurance policies. Edit and annotate policy language to accurately capture changes made by endorsements. Confirm policy completeness by cross-referencing listed forms against copies and addressing discrepancies. Create forms to enhance uniformity and efficiency within the Insurance Recovery Practice Group. Efficiently organize and prepare exhibits for hearings. Manage and code databases, conduct searches for witness/deposition files, and organize results. Submit and track defense costs. Prepare coverage charts. Draft various motions, including those for enlargement/extension of time and certificates of word count and service. Review and analyze documents produced in litigation, creating fact chronologies and timelines of claims adjustment/coverage correspondence. Attend team meeting and manage task lists and team responsibilities. Requirements: Paralegal certification and/or 3+ years of relevant experience. Strong organizational and problem solving skills. Proficient in spreadsheet and/or database software. Detail-oriented. Ability to work as part of various case teams.
