Senior Associate, Investment Funds The team The Norton Rose Fulbright Luxembourg office, which has been set up in June 2017, consists of a dynamic and enthusiastic team working closely with our numerous offices, more than 50 offices globally, and offers employees and associates the opportunity to play an integral part in consolidating the office’s and presence within the Luxembourg market. Our team is made up of experienced and multilingual lawyers with extensive knowledge of the Luxembourg legal and regulatory environment and covers the firm’s core practices, among which investment funds, real estate, banking and finance, mainstream corporate, M&A, employment and litigation, commercial and cross-border tax planning. Availability, quality and responsiveness are the hallmarks of our team. The Role An opportunity has arisen for a full-time Senior Associate position within our Investment Funds Practice in Luxembourg. The successful candidate will take an active role in providing tailor-made legal advice to our clients on a wide range of Funds aspects and will: Have the ability to work as part of a team but also be a proactive self-starter Be the ‘go to’ person in which others seek support in analyzing problems and identifying innovative solutions Propose strategies to resolve the most complex elements of matters, often directly to clients Challenge and critique the drafts of others so they can deliver an effective and efficient document Take on a supervisory role in most client matters he/she handles Communicate effectively with others both verbally and in writing Manage projects to plan, at the price expected by the client and the profit intended Create added value with each piece of work Use our strategic priorities, eg, Enterprise Clients, industry sector campaigns, to focus business plans and development Make time for effective management of others and act as coach to members of the team Be patient with others Ensure others comply with Best Practice Skills and Experience Required University law degree (first state exam in Germany, Master 2 from Belgium, Luxembourg or France), ideally completed by a post-graduate degree in business law, business administration or finance (business school, LLM, MBA or alike); Attorney registered with the Luxembourg bar or able to exercise under foreign home title; 5 to 7 years of working experience within a leading law firm preferably in Luxembourg; Significant experience mainly of the structuring, launch, placement and operation of closed-ended investment companies/funds as well as private companies/funds – negotiation of such structures will be considered as an additional asset; Additional experience of the structuring, launch, placement and operation of retail/UCITS funds, as well as experience of the structuring, launch and operation of AIFM and other management or service companies in the funds sector; and Fluent in English and French, German being an asset.
