We are entrepreneurial, fast- moving, and motivated by a desire to change the way that energy and electricity are delivered around the world. We are looking for a motivated, highly experienced individual with shared beliefs and passion to come and help drive the journey.</p> <p> As the <b>Senior Legal Counsel,</b> you will be responsible for providing legal advice and counsel to NFEs development, permitting and project execution teams in the Caribbean and Latin America, supporting a portfolio of onshore and offshore LNG liquefaction and receiving terminals, power plants, pipelines and associated infrastructure.</p> <p><b> What You Will Do:</b></p> <ul> <li>Provide advice and counsel to development, permitting and project execution teams, supporting onshore and offshore LNG liquefaction and receiving terminals, power plants and pipeline facilities</li> <li>Draft, negotiate and manage project development agreements, engineering, procurement and construction agreements, gas sales agreements, asset management &amp; O&amp;M agreements, power purchase agreements, offtake &amp; supply agreements, joint operating agreements, joint venture arrangements, and asset purchase and sale agreements</li> <li>Provide legal support to M&amp;A / structured finance projects and processes.</li> <li>Draft and negotiate general commercial contracts</li> <li>Coordinate and manage outside counsel as necessary</li> <li>Undertake due diligence and reputational risk assessment on new clients</li> <li>Review notices and prepare responses to government agencies and service providers</li> <li>Work collaboratively with NFE business, finance, shipping, and operations teams to achieve the best possible outcome for the company</li> <li>Report regularly to the NFE management team, and relevant committees, to provide updates regarding all material developments and milestones</li> </ul> <p><b>What You Bring:</b></p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 4 years' relevant experience, including foundational training at a top-tier law firm specializing in complex Energy/Oil &amp; Gas projects and transactions and/or at a major energy company</li> <li>Strong educational background and valid admission to a U.S. bar</li> <li>Fluent Spanish speaker, including the ability to draft and negotiate contracts in Spanish</li> <li>Experience negotiating contracts with Latin America counterparties such as government entities and/or private parties</li> <li>Experience representing IOCs, sponsors, developers, or IPPs owning and operating large scale energy assets</li> <li>Experience negotiating and drafting service agreements related to LNG project development.</li> <li>Substantive command of the main laws and regulations that apply to U.S. public energy companies operating in international jurisdictions</li> <li>Practical, commercial, and solution-oriented problem-solving approach</li> <li>Strong verbal and written communication skills</li> <li>Ability to interact confidently and respectfully with peers as well as more junior or senior team members and portfolio company management</li> <li>Maturity, integrity, humility, and ability to maintain confidences and be discreet</li> <li>Strong work ethic</li> <li>Self-motivated and enthusiastic about identifying areas to add value</li> </ul> <p><b>What we offer</b></p> <p> As an NFE employee, you'll enjoy unique benefits including a generous vacation policy; medical, dental, and vision coverage; a healthcare concierge; free short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance; a 401K plan; commuter benefits; team events; healthy snacks and more.</p> <p><b> Our commitment to diversity and inclusion</b></p> <p> New Fortress Energy is an equal opportunity employer and promotes a diverse and inclusive workplace.
