The UE Resolutions Team is looking for an experienced attorney for our South team to help us resolve some of our members' most challenging claims. If this sounds appealing to you, please apply today!</p> <p> Core role is to evaluate claims and participate with members and defense counsel to develop claims resolution strategies.</p> <p><b> Responsibilities:</b></p> <ul> <li>Monitor and manage claims files assigned, and alert and consult with supervisory counsel on those which may present company exposure</li> <li>Participate with the insured and defense counsel in developing a case resolution strategy</li> <li>Positively impact the resolution of files through early interaction, reference to ADR, mediation and effective litigation management</li> <li>Demonstrate mastery of claims handling expectations for complex matters including analyzing coverage, evaluating liability, monitoring claims, determining claim values, reserving, reinsurance reporting, resolving matters, and reviewing legal bills</li> <li>Analyze reported claims for accurate loss coding information</li> <li>Review initial liability and damage assessment with insured, including a discussion of coverage</li> <li>Draft acknowledgment/reservation of rights/declination letters and defense counsel appointment letters</li> <li>Evaluate budgets submitted by defense counsel for reasonableness; regularly review files for compliance with the agreed upon budget and strategy</li> <li>Perform legal research as needed</li> </ul> <p><b>Requirements:</b></p> <ul> <li>A minimum of six years' experience in law firm, insurance company or general counsel's office</li> <li>Law degree and experience defending or handling litigation involving employment, catastrophic bodily injury, personal injury, or educational issues</li> <li>Excellent written and oral communications</li> <li>Strong legal analysis and problem-solving skills</li> <li>Good negotiation and advocacy skills</li> <li>Knowledge of substantive law of higher education or insurance law preferred but not required</li> <li>Ability to thrive in an atmosphere of constant change</li> <li>Ability to travel as required</li> </ul> <div> <p><b> Benefits:</b></p> <ul> <li>Competitive compensation and benefits package for full-time employees</li> <li>Hybrid schedule - employees work in our office 2-3 days per week</li> <li>Work-life balance - like the service we provide to our members, we want our employees to feel assured, cared for, and enlightened</li> <li>Inclusive and supportive culture that embraces diverse ideas and opinions</li> <li>Monthly lunches and various social events throughout the year</li> </ul> </div> </div></div>
