Description
King & Spalding , a leading global law firm, currently seeks a lawyer to join our Conflicts & Business Review department. This is an opportunity to join an innovative and collaborative team focused on supporting the firm’s new business intake and lateral conflicts clearance functions. The Conflicts & Ethics Attorney will work closely with the Conflicts & Ethics Manager and a team of Conflicts & Ethics Attorneys. This position may be filled in King & Spalding’s Atlanta, New York, Washington, D.C., or Chicago office. This role will require both in-office and remote work. Candidates will have the following skills and responsibilities: Reviews the firm’s new business intake forms, conflict reports, waiver letters, and engagement letters and communicates with lawyers and staff on any changes or additional information that may be necessary before the firm accepts the new business. Reviews conflict reports and advise firm lawyers on conflict issues. Reviews outside counsel guidelines and advising on the firm’s ability to comply with such guidelines. Drafts informed consent letters, researching corporate affiliations, and establishing ethical walls. Other duties may be assigned by the Conflicts & Ethics Manager or Director of Conflicts & New Business Intake. Candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills, exceptional critical thinking and problem solving skills and a working knowledge of the rules of professional conduct. Successful candidates demonstrate sound judgment, intellectual curiosity and are able to work well under pressure. Candidates must also have the ability to adapt to changing priorities, meet deadlines and manage a heavy workload. Previous conflicts experience is preferred but not required. A Juris Doctorate (J.D.) is required. Candidates must be actively licensed and in good standing with a state bar.
