Job Title
Senior Counsel in Corporate/Bond Finance
Firm
Seyfarth Shaw LLP
Location
Georgia-Atlanta
Description
At Seyfarth Shaw, our team focuses on finance and incentives transactions. The client base is largely the public sector. This includes local authorities, particularly development authorities, but does not include the state. Only infrequently will cities or counties be the direct client. Our practice base also includes real estate developers, operating companies (particularly with transactional work), and private lenders and borrowers. Our engagements are mostly in the field of economic development or community development- new business locations or expansions (including financing for facilities), infrastructure, public-private partnerships, layering capital stacks and deal structuring, etc. Our finance work includes industrial development revenue bonds (IDBs). Some IDB bond issues are tax-exempt; most are not. Other key financial products include project finance, syndicated bank loans, EB-5 immigrant investor capital, and tax credit finance (including New Markets Tax Credits). The teamâ??s new member would support our bond work and related matters. It is not a requirement that the individual be or become an expert in the federal income tax law of tax-exempt finance, although some familiarity with the field is necessary. We would expect the new team member to be engaged in, and contribute to, the teamâ??s evolving work outside the bond industry. Important aspects of that are credits & incentives work outside Georgia, state and local tax law, commercial law, EB-5 work (financing, and securities and other regulatory issues), and tax credit finance. The individual need not be an expert in all of these fields, but must be well enough equipped in enough of them in order to be immediately productive. We estimate that the best candidate for the position would have at least 15 yearsâ?? experience practicing law. Credentials in other disciplines, aligned with the individualâ??s intended role, would be a plus. Another asset would be admission to the bars of other states in addition to Georgia, particularly in the Southeast. Seyfarth also is an influential leader in diversity. The firm has been recognized for nine consecutive years in the Human Rights Campaignâ??s Corporate Equality Index. We have been named one of the â??Best Law Firms for Womenâ? by Working Mother six years in a row, and we have been honored with the Thomas L. Sager Award for Diversity by the Minority Corporate Counsel Association. At Seyfarth, we value diversity and provide equal opportunities to all qualified applicants. We invite you to discover why Seyfarth is recognized worldwide for its innovation. Come experience the Seyfarth difference. Qualifications
