Description Gentry Locke Attorneys seeks a qualified and motivated associate, with a minimum of 1-2 years’ experience, to join our established Civil Defense Litigation Practice Group in our Roanoke or Norfolk office. The associate should have a desire to participate actively in litigation and trials. The successful candidate will be expected to think creatively and spontaneously, have the confidence to interact with clients, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently. Knowledge or experience in workers’ compensation preferred. A strong academic record is required. If not currently a member of the Virginia Bar, the selected candidate must become a member promptly. Qualifications Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Knowledge of law and legal practice in order to perform substantive legal functions in client matters. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. Analytical skills necessary to conduct complex and detailed analysis of legal matters. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate by e-mail, in-person and telephone with a diverse group of clients, lawyers, witnesses and staff and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact. Ability to travel extensively locally and statewide to attend to clients’ needs on legal matters. Multi-state travels a possibility. Work requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
