Your role The role will involve delivering first-class know-how and learning support to a dynamic team of fee-earners that advises clients on a wide variety of high-value, complex and challenging commercial real estate transactions (including the real estate aspects of finance transactions, transactions involving distressed real estate, acquisitions and disposals (both asset and share), development/regeneration schemes, lettings, large corporate transactions (including those which are cross-jurisdictional) and property, asset and development management agreements, in each case across a broad range of asset classes). The role will reflect the individual’s level of experience, but will include a combination of: Know-how (internal) Drafting, maintaining, updating and organising the know-how database (including the precedent bank, drafting notes, practice notes, memoranda, presentations and training materials), such that a comprehensive and up-to-date set of technically outstanding, practical and client-centric know-how materials is available to all fee-earners; Keeping up-to-date with legal and commercial developments, and succinctly briefing/articulating to the team (verbally, and in writing) the impact on our clients, their transactions, and our practice (and updating our know-how materials accordingly); Capturing know-how content from client transactions (and updating the relevant know-how materials accordingly); Identifying, reviewing and preparing documents for automation; Being a “go-to” person for fee-earners with queries about law and market practice in relation to all aspects of commercial real estate transactions; Organising, updating and maintaining the Real Estate practice’s pages on the firm’s intranet site; Integrating the practice’s know-how with the resources of other practice areas in the firm (in particular, Real Estate Finance, Corporate, Restructuring and Insolvency, and Energy and Infrastructure), so as to support the seamless delivery of cross-practice transactions; and Responding to the know-how needs of our practice from time to time (including engaging in specific know-how projects). Training (internal) Designing, implementing, delivering and updating dedicated real estate training programmes (and engaging with other practice areas for the delivery of cross-practice/sector training sessions) for fee-earners of varying levels of seniority. External facing Organising, developing and delivering (and/or assisting fee-earners in the preparation and delivery of) client training/briefings on topical issues; Producing and updating client-facing publications (including our “Talking Points” series), with commentary and analysis which is insightful and timely; Identifying know-how/content opportunities for supporting client/sector relationships; and Engaging in general business development opportunities (e.g. taking part in professional/industry working groups; responding/contributing to industry/legal consultations). About you You will be a qualified solicitor with circa 6 years’ PQE of recent experience within the commercial real estate practice of a highly-rated City law firm (either in the practice of commercial real estate law, or as a knowledge lawyer that has maintained close alignment with commercial real estate transactions and their commercial drivers). With exposure to a wide range of commercial real estate transactions, you will have up-to-date knowledge of the relevant law and current market practice including the key negotiating points and, in particular, in-depth experience/knowledge of the real estate aspects of real estate financing transactions. You will have excellent problem-solving and technical skills, including drafting and legal analysis, and be confident dealing with the varied/wide-ranging nature of our work and adapting to the evolving requirements of our practice.
