Employees can expect to be in the office a couple of days per week as needed for meetings and team collaboration and should live within a commutable distance. <div></div> <div> What we do: </div> <div> Attorneys in the Corporate Affairs unit at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York advise on employment and labor law matters that impact the Bank’s people, including those related to diversity, ethics, immigration, organizational change, and personnel policies, and advise and provide legal support to the Bank’s Freedom of Information Office. This specialized team sits within a division of the Bank’s Legal Function that has responsibility for litigation, contracts, technology, regulatory enforcement matters and internal investigations. </div> <div></div> <div> Your role as in-house Corporate Affairs Counsel, Employment: </div> <div> Reporting to the Associate General Counsel in Corporate Affairs, you will work with experienced employment and labor attorneys to advise Bank management on a range of people-related topics. You will play a critical role in collaborating with our colleagues across the division and within the Bank’s Legal Function. Last, you will bring enthusiasm for and expertise in the substantive areas of focus for the role, and will partner closely with business leaders across the Bank and the Federal Reserve System to identify and implement effective legal solutions for the New York Fed. </div> <div></div> <div> The specific duties of the role include: </div> <ul> <li> <div> Providing verbal and written legal counsel and advice to the Bank on a range of employment and labor law topics and policies, including with respect to diversity, equal employment opportunity, investigations, performance management, health and safety, and organizational transformation; </div></li> <li> <div> Researching and analyzing legal, factual, operational, or policy issues, and applying sound judgment, critical thinking, initiative, and creativity to address them; </div></li> <li> <div> Drafting correspondence and memoranda reflecting research conclusions; </div></li> <li> <div> Reviewing and interpreting legal documents such as contracts and opinions; </div></li> <li> <div> Creating and managing processes to help ensure compliance with law and mitigate legal risk; </div></li> <li> <div> Developing and maintaining technical and practical skills relevant to area of practice and sharing that knowledge with clients, the division, and the function; </div></li> <li> <div> Forging and maintaining strong relationships with client representatives; and </div></li> <li> <div> Demonstrating and promoting collaboration, diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. </div></li> </ul> <div></div> <div> What we are looking for in the Corporate Affairs Counsel, Employment: </div> <ul> <li> <div> Juris doctor (JD) with demonstrated ability to provide legal advice to clients with respect to employment law matters, including the matters referenced above; </div></li> <li> <div> Admission to the New York State Bar; </div></li> <li> <div> A strong focus on client service and the ability to distill legal concepts for a nonlegal audience; and </div></li> <li> <div> Excellent writing and legal drafting skills, particularly with respect to legal research memoranda. </div></li> </ul> <div></div> <div> Cover letters are strongly encouraged </div> <div> Salary Range: $207600 – $230700 / year </div> <div> <div> <div> Touchstone Behaviors set clear expectations for leading with impact at every stage of our careers and aspire to achieve in our continued growth and development. <br> Communicate Authentically: Empathetically engage one another with direct and transparent dialogue and listening.
