New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire. <br> <br> <b>SUMMARY</b>: <br> This position is responsible for assisting various LIRR departments in the timely and accurate administration of investigations, disciplinary charges, and trials in compliance with Corporate Procedures, FRA regulations and collective bargaining agreements. This position is also responsible for assisting with the development and maintenance of disciplinary reports and to make recommendations regarding potential violations of the Corporate Rules and Policies <br> <br> <b>RESPONSIBILITIES</b>: <ul> <li> Assist the Manager – Trials &amp; Investigations and other supervisory staff with the implementation and administration of disciplinary action of the represented workforce in accordance with the labor agreements for all LIRR Departments.</li> <li> Assist Manager and other supervisory staff with conducting preliminary investigations into potential infractions that may lead to disciplinary action.</li> <li> Provide monthly discipline reports of employees in disciplinary actions and assist with the trend analysis of disciplinary action across all LIRR Departments.</li> <li> Assist other supervisory staff in the preparation and administration of fair, impartial and timely disciplinary trials.</li> <li> Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to guidelines of company safety policies and procedures. Lead by example.</li> <li> Select, develop, and motivate personnel within the department. Provide career development for subordinates. Provide prompt and effective coaching and counseling. Responsible for discipline/termination of employees when necessary. Review performance of staff. Create a professional environment that respects individual differences and enables all employees to develop and contribute to their full potential.</li> <li> Other duties as assigned.</li> </ul> <br> <br> <b>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES</b><b> </b> <ul> <li>Demonstrated effective, strong interpersonal, communications and organizational/administrative skills and ability to effectively interact with both management and labor organizations.</li> <li> Must possess knowledge of applicable collective bargaining agreements (or demonstrated equivalent) and experience effectively interpreting their application, rules, etc. to management and union employees.</li> <li> Perceptiveness to identify and solve problems, sound judgment and strong analytical, investigating and research skills.</li> <li> Proficient PC skills including MS Word and Excel.</li> <li> Ability to effectively influence decisions to ensure fair and consistent application of union rules, agreements and company policies and procedures.</li> <li> Under the guidance of the Manager, administer the disciplinary procedures and conduct investigations as requested.</li> <li> Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.</li> <li> Excellent organizational and presentation skills.</li> <li> Demonstrated ability to work in a high-profile, high-pressure environment effectively.</li> <li> Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with key internal and/or external stakeholders.</li> <li> Demonstrated ability to complete short- and long-term projects effectively and as efficiently as possible.</li> <li> Demonstrated analytical capabilities and quantitative skills.</li> <li> Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or comparable applications, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook</li> </ul> <br> <br> <b>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE</b>: <br> <b>REQUIRED:</b> <br> <ul> <li> Bachelor’s degree in Business/Labor Relations or related field and approximately 3 - 4 years of related administrative professional experience (or demonstrated equivalent combination of related experience and/or education) demonstrating ability to perform comprehensive disciplinary investigations.
