<div id="jobDescriptionText" class="jobsearch-jobDescriptionText jobsearch-JobComponent-description css-sn7po5 eu4oa1w0"><div> Executive Director, Associate General Counsel – Leveraged Finance <p></p> New York, United States of America <p></p> <p><b> WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING</b></p> <p></p> <p> Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li><p> Provide comprehensive legal support for Santander Corporate &amp; Investment Banking US’s growing Leveraged Finance business.</p></li> <li><p> Draft, review and negotiate relevant legal documentation.</p></li> <li><p> Oversee engagement of external counsel.</p></li> <li><p> Manage legal issues and provide legal guidance to management and relevant business lines.</p></li> <li><p> Partner closely with Credit, Compliance, Operations and other internal stakeholders to mitigate risk and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.</p></li> <li><p> Provide specific advice on relevant laws, rules, regulations and regulatory guidance.</p></li> <li><p> Ensure compliance with internal governance.</p></li> <li><p> Act as legal/technical expert providing advice, insights and solutions to clients and consultants on applicable legal/technical and compliance issues affecting strategies, programs, plans (design and operations) and practices.</p></li> <li><p> Analyze key policy, legislative and legal developments and issues, and share advice, insights and solutions with internal business and functional clients.</p></li> <li><p> Research relevant legal issues and technical and industry specific topics.</p></li> <li><p> Review current developments in the area of legal/technical expertise, prepares complex technical analyses and develops advice, insights, and solutions.</p></li> <li><p> Act as a subject matter expert (SME) while providing leadership, guidance, and mentorship to other team members.</p></li> <li><p> Assist with the support of other Santander Corporate &amp; Investment Banking US businesses as needed and contribute to Firmwide and Legal Department projects and initiatives.</p></li> </ul> <p></p> <p> Qualifications</p> <ul> <li><p> Bachelor's Degree, Law / J.D. degree, and active license to practice law in New York.</p></li> <li><p> 12-15+ years experience practicing law in financial services and/or law firms.</p></li> </ul> <p></p> <p> Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li><p> Entrepreneurial mindset to support a dynamic and growing investment bank.</p></li> <li><p> Excellent verbal and written communication (including briefing) skills.</p></li> <li><p> Ability to effectively and quickly build relationships and establish trust and respect.</p></li> <li><p> Excellent interpersonal/people and collaboration skills and ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization and able to stand firm on issues when necessary.</p></li> <li><p> Exert gravitas, judgment and self-confidence, but also a respect for others, regardless of position, and a desire to work as a team and with all levels of management.</p></li> <li><p> Ability to effectively, efficiently and calmly manage multiple time-sensitive projects.</p></li> <li><p> Team player with a desire and aptitude to work in a collaborative environment on a team of high-performing legal professionals.</p></li> <li><p> Excellent drafting, negotiating and counseling skills.</p></li> <li><p> Strong ability to identify and solve complex problems.</p></li> <li><p> Strong sense of urgency with the ability to meet deadlines.</p></li> </ul> <p><br> Diversity &amp; EEO Statements: At Santander, we value and respect differences in our workforce and strive to increase the diversity of our teams.
