This position can sit in our Los Angeles, Chicago, Austin, Houston, Dallas or Wilmington office and offers a hybrid work schedule. The hours for this position will be 2:30 PM - 10:00 PM Eastern Time. Paralegals are a critical part of DLA Piper’s client service teams, working side by side with lawyers, co-counsel and clients on an array of substantive client matters. The majority of our paralegals are career professionals. They work independently and on teams, locally, nationally and globally. The paralegal team itself includes Case Assistants, Paralegals, Senior Paralegals and Paralegal Specialists. In this dynamic role, your day will involve a comprehensive array of responsibilities within the legal realm. Beginning with a detailed review and download of court dockets and bankruptcy filings, you will seamlessly transition to conducting thorough research and preparing the necessary documentation for legal UCC Financing Statements. A portion of your day will be dedicated to bluebooking and proofing legal pleadings, ensuring the highest standard of accuracy. Your organizational prowess will shine as you manage data rooms, meticulously organize matter files, and coordinate the execution and delivery of crucial documentation to various stakeholders, including counsel, lenders, and governmental agencies. The development, monitoring, and updating of closing and other checklists will be central to your role, ensuring precision in transactional processes. Attending closings with attorneys, preparing closing books, and maintaining minute books in both hard copy and electronic formats will require your attention to detail. Assembling, reviewing, and analyzing a diverse range of legal documents will be a routine part of your day, coupled with effective communication and liaison with judges’ chambers, court personnel, outside counsel, clients, and other stakeholders through telephone, mail, and email. Your responsibilities extend to performing Pacer searches and skillfully handling the electronic filing of pleadings. Drafting and filing court papers, including motions, notices, orders, affidavits, schedules, statements, fee applications, proofs of claim, petitions, and agenda letters, will showcase your legal acumen. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in the preparation and organization of materials for hearings, including the compilation of binders, orders, and supplemental documents. Your meticulous organizational skills will further be evident in the seamless organization of service and timely delivery of signature copies to chambers, as well as the adept management of the department calendar. Physical Demands, Work Environment, and Other Requirements Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. The expected pay range for this position, if hired to work in Los Angeles is $43.36 - $64.51 per hour. Non-exempt positions will be paid on an hourly basis and paid overtime in accordance with applicable laws. The compensation offered to a candidate selected for employment will be dependent upon various factors, including the candidate’s geographic market, skills, educational and professional background, experience, and overall qualifications.
