SUMMARY: Responsible for all aspects of new business intake from conflict checking and resolution through documentation of matter engagement. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Manage all new business intake details to ensure accuracy and adherence with Firm policies and procedures 2. Conduct conflict of interest searches, perform first level clearance review of results and assist Firm attorneys with clearance of conflicts 3. Draft engagement letters and/or consents needed for new engagements; coordinate with Firm attorneys to secure agreement and execution by client 4. Coordinate with Firm Managing Partner and/or Office Managing Partners as needed on approval of business terms 5. Coordinate the review and implementation of Outside Counsel Guidelines 6. Supervise and work with conflicts staff 7. Work with Professional Responsibility Attorneys on lateral hiring process, including conflict review and clearance and onboarding of new matters for lateral hires 8. Assist with all other projects and special requests as needed KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 1. Education: Juris Doctor (JD) and active license to practice law in the United States required 2. Two years’ experience as a Conflicts Attorney or comparable experience 3. Willingness to devote most of the business day to review of conflicts of interest database search reports to clear new employments for acceptance or to identify and help resolve conflicts of interest 4. Strong understanding of legal relationships and loss prevention/legal risk management 5. Knowledge of Rules of Professional Conduct 6. Experience with database review and searching 7. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; must be able to articulate issues accurately, clearly and succinctly 8. Strong analytical and problem solving abilities needed to address complex questions and issues 9. Must have strong organizational skills and be extremely detail-oriented; issue-tracking, follow-up and resolution skills are essential 10. Ability to use various reference materials and conduct internet searching 11. Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding, deadline-driven environment and respond appropriately to shifting priorities 12. Must maintain confidentiality and use discretion with sensitive information 13. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively Remote work option.
