We embrace diversity in thought and contribution and are committed to providing an equitable work environment that is foundational to our core values as a company and is vital to our success. **Job Summary:** Equinix is seeking in any of its US office locations, a dedicated Senior Legal Counsel to provide exceptional legal and business support to Equinix’s sales and product teams. You must have a proven record of building highly successful business relationships. You must bring a high level of enthusiasm to the support of the sales, customer success, channel and product teams, including the dedication to provide timely, accurate, and well- reasoned responses to queries from the business and successfully negotiate complex agreements with Equinix customers. You must be able work with other in-house counsel, outside counsel, product team, and security team members on commercial matters. It helps Equinix immensely if you also possess strong knowledge on data security, data protection, privacy, IP protection, and responses to customer demands and requests associated with those matters. Possible locations: Redwood City, Chicago, Dallas, Ashburn, Tampa. No relocation monies. **Responsibilities:** * Draft, negotiate, and successfully close complex commercial agreements, including technology licenses, digital services agreements, marketing agreements, sales and partnership agreements. * Provide legal advice to team leaders and members with a thorough understanding of a SaaS business and the legal and regulatory environment that surrounds it. * Work with our sales, product managers and emerging services team to review new products, features, and other new uses of data to ensure compliance with applicable data protection laws and industry practice * Draft, review, and support the commercial transactions team in negotiating data protection terms, and work alongside Equinix Privacy Office to educate and explain the company’s practice and compliance status to internal and external audiences **Qualifications:** * J.D. degree from an accredited law school * Membership in good standing of any US State Bar * 5+ years of experience of proven commercial drafting and negotiation of complex commercial agreements, especially for other data center, real estate or technology related businesses * Technical background in software products and development, SaaS, or cloud-based services industry and IoT, a plus. * A consistent record of working independently with little direction in a fast-paced environment and taking initiative in client engagement to add value to client interactions. * Manage critical projects on an ongoing basis, working independently and as part of a team * Possess great sensitivity, common sense, and creativity to solve potential business and legal issues * Experience in working on privacy and data protection matters, including knowledge of global privacy laws, including the GDPR and the states’ individual privacy laws and policies, is preferred but not a requirement. * Proactive, self-driven, motivated to learn, and goal-oriented * Outstanding interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills * Must possess a sense of humor * Comply with the Professional Rules of Conduct, and hold the highest standards of ethics and professional integrity Equinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability.
