Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 (i.e., one dose of a single dose vaccine or a final dose of a multi-dose vaccine series). Exceptions from the COVID-19 vaccine requirement are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical or fully remote exemption. Requests for medical exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved medical exemption is required to start work. </div> <div></div> <ul> <li><br> Staff working at a MSK New Jersey location must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, which includes having completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series and booster once eligible as mandated by New Jersey State. All New Jersey staff not yet eligible for a booster must receive a booster within 3 weeks of becoming eligible as a condition of continued employment at MSK.</li> </ul> <div></div> <div> <i><br> Note:</i> <i> Individuals are eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster two months after completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19. Because vaccine-induced immunity can wane over time, MSK continues to strongly urge all staff to get a COVID-19 booster as soon as they become eligible to maintain their protective immunity for a longer period.</i> </div> Job Description: <div> Are you an experienced attorney interested in supporting the research mission of Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK)? The <b> Office of Technology Development (OTD) </b>has an exciting opportunity for an <b>Assistant General Counsel </b>who has a strong background of advising clients on <b>technology transfer transactions</b>. </div> <div></div> <div> <b><br> We Are:</b> </div> <div> A team of legal professionals within an academic technology transfer office committed to promoting the application of scientific research results for the public good. We work closely with MSK researchers and other senior attorneys and tech transfer professionals to help MSK achieve its overall mission of conquering cancer! </div> <div></div> <div> <b><br> You will:</b> </div> <ul> <li> Draft, review, and negotiate Sponsored Research Agreements, Collaboration Agreements, Data Transfer Agreements, Clinical Trial Agreements, Material Transfer Agreements, Licensing Agreements, and other complex transactions with pharmaceutical and biotech industry partners (both startups and large corporations) as well as other academic medical centers and nonprofit organizations, ensuring compliance with MSK policies and third party obligations.</li> <li> Partner with tech transfer colleagues, MSK researchers, and other internal business clients to ensure MSK’s intellectual property interests are protected and to generate revenue through intellectual property commercialization.</li> <li> Collaborate closely with other members of the MSK Legal team to share and address new legal issues that impact the institution.</li> <li> Work independently on special legal projects and initiatives assigned by the Chief IP Counsel and other members of the Legal Leadership Team.</li> <li> Guide development of policies, platforms, and procedures for new transactions and business models.</li> <li> Apply legal and business judgment to proposed deals, relationships, and other issues requiring legal attention.</li> </ul> <div> <b> You Have:</b> </div> <ul> <li> A Juris Doctorate (JD) with active bar membership in good standing.</li> <li> Approximately 4-6 years of experience, preferably in a corporate legal or tech transfer department in the healthcare or life sciences industry.</li> <li> Demonstrated knowledge of intellectual property and contract law.</li> <li> Direct experience with drafting and negotiating technology transfer agreements and familiarity with scientific research and pharmaceutical and biotech industry-sponsored transactions and relationships.</li> <li> Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, adept at building partnerships and working collaboratively across teams to meet shared objectives.</li> <li> Strong project management and prioritization skills, ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.</li> <li> Exceptional client service skills and professionalism, including discretion, diplomacy, and sound judgment.</li> </ul> <div> Please note, this position be on site 2 in Manhattan days/week. </div> <div></div> <div> <b><br> Are you ready to learn more about our</b> <b>Benefits?</b> </div> <div></div> <div> <b><br> Pay Range:</b> $126,000- $208,300/annually </div> <div> #LI-HYBRID </div> <div> Please click to learn more about MSK’s compensation philosophy. </div> Closing: <div> MSK is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer committed to diversity and inclusion in all aspects of recruiting and employment.
