CEFR works with faculty across all academic areas and serves the University's mission of advancing knowledge by increasing and diversifying research funding and through building partnerships and collaborations with external partners including corporations, foundations, and government entities to support Princeton's research enterprise and innovation initiatives. </div> <div></div> <div> <br> These external relationships can lead to the transmission of fundamental new knowledge and understanding, as well as innovative solutions to the technological and societal challenges facing our world. The commitment of the University’s partners enhances our researchers’ capacity to conduct groundbreaking research and tackle some of the toughest questions in their fields. </div> <div></div> <div> <br> This position is a 2-year term position. </div> Responsibilities: <div> The Associate Director will focus on Corporate Affiliates Programs, international partners, and other mutually beneficial relationships with external partners by providing legal background consultation and drafting industrial affiliates agreements, gift and endowment agreements, MOUs, and proposals for research support and innovation initiatives. Work independently as well as in partnership with DFR, CEFR, VDI, ORPA colleagues on industrial affiliates contracts and other legal agreements such as NDAs. </div> <div></div> <div> <br> The Associate Director will also work in conjunction with CEFR Director, Sr. Associate Directors, Vice Dean for Innovation, and ORPA grants and contract officers on the Princeton Alliance for Collaborative Research Initiative with HBCU partners; as well as other campus partners including the Provost's office, the Dean for Research, Dean of School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, department chairs, and faculty on the pre- and post-award phases to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations as well as University policies. </div> Qualifications: <ul> <li>Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution. Legal experience with writing contracts, multiple types of legal agreements (gifts, grants, gift in kind, and endowments), and MOUs.</li> <li>Experience working with international entities on contracts and agreements including understanding of export control and IP.</li> <li>Proposal writing and development.</li> <li>Understanding of government “call for proposals.”</li> <li>Creative and innovative problem solver.</li> <li>Strong personal initiative and self-motivation coupled with a keenness to work in a collaborative team environment.</li> <li>Strategic thinker and purpose driven.</li> <li>A minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience at a R1 research university, law firm, or in industry, government.</li> <li>Exceptional project management experience.</li> <li>A proactive approach to relationship building, including the ability to initiate conversations with faculty and external partners including industry researchers, foundation program officers, and government officials.</li> <li>Ability to thrive in a complex and dynamic environment, and to manage competing priorities.</li> <li>Excellent judgment and tact, especially with working with faculty and external partners.</li> <li>Resolute integrity and ethics.</li> <li>General understanding of university research enterprise.</li> <li>Understanding of research conflicts of interest.</li> </ul> <div></div> <div> <br> Princeton University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
