Goldberg Segalla, a dynamic and rapidly growing law firm with a national practice, seeks a highly motivated and organized individual to join its team in our West Palm Beach, FL office as a Paralegal supporting litigators that have a high volume of work. The paralegal will assist and provide a wide range of legal support to the supervising attorney(s). These duties include maintaining files, conducting legal research, drafting documents, communicating with clients and other parties involved in the cases, etc. This position requires knowledge of best law firm practices and the legal field. This role is eligible to be on a hybrid work schedule after in-office training is completed. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Must be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure Must have the ability to work as part of a team, as well as to work independently, with minimal supervision Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint E-filing knowledge in preparation to file all types of discovery requests, responses to opposing counsel, and motions Knowledge of legal documents and terminology Experience with recording billable hours, billable time entry methods, and basic knowledge of general insurance industry guidelines for keeping track of billable time Experience with, and basic knowledge of, the subpoena process to obtain medical records and medical billing discovery Organize and maintain documents in the physical file and in the firm’s document Management software Gather, maintain current, and arrange evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation Obtain affidavits and other formal documents/statements that may be used as evidence in court Assist lawyers during trials by handlings exhibits, taking notes or reviewing trial transcripts File exhibits, briefs, appeals, and other legal documents (after a lawyer has reviewed and approved them) with the court or opposing counsel Reach out to clients, witnesses, lawyers, and outside vendors to schedule interviews, meetings, or depositions. Locate and communicate with expert witnesses to schedule and prepare for Compulsory Medical Examinations (CMEs) EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS: 3+ years of experience with insurance defense litigation.
