Armstrong Teasdale is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join its Miami office. The Litigation Paralegal supports trial attorneys throughout all legal proceedings in Florida State and Federal courts, including all phases of discovery, trial preparation and trial. Area of focus is Commercial Litigation. This position is expected to meet or exceed a billable hour model and the expectation is to be in-office full time. Assists attorneys in research, drafting, and revision of discovery, motions, judgments, and dismissals Conducts legal research, compiles and organizes materials in order to prepare for depositions, hearings and trials Assists with all pre-trial proceedings, including witness and exhibit lists Attends and assists with bench and jury trials Prepares, executes and downloads court filings including electronic filings, and state filings, and court pleadings Drafts client and counsel correspondence May prepare discovery production, schedule depositions, and check case citations May obtain records and work with experts in all areas of litigation May serve as a point of contact for clients and may interpret data for clients and team Competencies: Decision Making – Is aware of issues and asks questions when issues arise; completes day-to-day tasks with team Communication – Effectively communicates through written and verbal forms; shares information when asked and understands the appropriate level of confidentiality Leadership – Gives positive feedback to others; is developing skills to mentor others; asks questions; is assigned work; focuses on day-to-day tasks Continuous Learning – Attends required training; accepts planned change willingly Teamwork – Works as a member of the team and understands the goals of the team; understands that team members’ needs, ideas and solutions vary Alignment to Values - Is aware of the Firm’s values and consistently demonstrates them; is aware of the meaning/strategic goal of the Firm’s Diversity and Inclusion values; has a deep understanding of one’s own core functions Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent Preferred Education: Associate’s degree in paralegal studies Required Licenses and/or Certifications: Paralegal certificate or degree Required Experience: 2 years in legal industry or equivalent transferrable skills from industries such as insurance, government, regulatory/compliance administration; skilled in Microsoft Office Preferred Experience: 3-5 years as a Litigation Paralegal Supervisory Responsibilities: Indirect Physical Activity: The employee will be required to sit for prolonged periods and work on a computer.
