About the role We currently have a secondment opportunity with our client, a US based investment firm, for an attorney with 4-8+years’ experience in funds, particularly in areas such as fund formation, fund distribution, and fund-related regulation. Successful applicants will: have 4-8 years’ experience at a law firm ranked as top tier; experience in areas such as fund formation, fund distribution, fund-related regulation ideally have recent in-house legal experience at a leading financial institution (directly or as a secondee); be admitted to the California or New York; have a commitment to building a career through interim assignments and be motivated to operate at a high level whilst working in this way; have a ‘consultant mindset’, including a flexible and adaptable outlook and approach; have proven project management skills; have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to interface at all levels, building strong relationships internally and externally; be resilient, autonomous and highly credible, with exemplary commercial/business acumen, client service ethic and commitment; and have excellent academic credentials. Assignments can range from two to six months in duration and are usually worked four days’ per week In the A&O Shearman practice on an ad-hoc basis, supporting teams when needed or joining them for fixed periods to work on a deal. We only take you on when we see a demand for your particular expertise, making sure there is a good chance we can provide you with work on an on-going basis.
