In this role, you will be expected to problem-solve in a quick and efficient manner while utilizing strong legal and business judgment. The Deputy General Counsel will be a leader within the Legal department and is expected to manage a team of lawyers in the Americas region, strategically lead litigation, and partner with business leaders and colleagues on projects across the Company.</p> <p><b> Your Responsibilities:</b></p> <ul> <li><b> Be a leader of Elanco's legal strategy:</b> Provide strategic counsel and direction on a global scale for all legal, compliance, and litigation matters.</li> <li><b> Ensure legal compliance and mitigate risk:</b> Oversee company-wide adherence to laws and regulations, providing proactive legal support and guidance across all business functions.</li> <li><b> Drive operational excellence in legal services:</b> Lead, develop, and manage a high-performing legal team while ensuring efficient and effective delivery of legal services.</li> <li><b> Partner with senior leadership and business stakeholders:</b> Advise the executive team and business partners on critical decisions with legal implications, actively participating in strategic initiatives.</li> <li><b> Foster a culture of ethics and compliance:</b> Supervise and guide the company's ethics and compliance programs, providing training and promoting a culture of integrity.</li> </ul> <p><b> What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):</b></p> <ul> <li><b> Education:</b> J.D. from an accredited law school and qualified to practice law in Indiana or the ability to be admitted in six (6) months. In good standing in all jurisdictions to which a candidate has been admitted.</li> </ul> <ul> <li><b> Experience:</b> At least twelve years (12) years of experience gained in a major law firm and/or as in-house counsel in roles of increasing responsibility with an emphasis on general commercial law.</li> <li>Top skills for success include: <ul> <li><b> Legal Expertise and Business Acumen:</b> This encompasses a deep understanding of commercial law, litigation, antitrust regulations, and the ability to apply legal expertise to achieve business objectives. It also includes strategic thinking, problem-solving, and a keen understanding of business needs.</li> <li><b> Exceptional Leadership and Communication:</b> This involves leading and inspiring teams, building relationships, and communicating effectively at all levels within and outside an organization. This includes strong interpersonal skills, clear communication (both written and verbal), and the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.</li> </ul></li> </ul> <p><b> What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications):</b></p> <ul> <li>Previous in-house experience in the animal health, pharmaceutical or a related industry.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience working with a global team on commercial and/or litigation matters.</li> <li>Strong litigation experience at a major law firm.</li> <li>Consistent support of inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility initiatives throughout professional career.</li> </ul> <p><b> Additional Information:</b></p> <ul> <li>Travel: Some (&lt;25%) Domestic and International Travel</li> <li>Location: Global Elanco Headquarters - Greenfield, IN - Hybrid Work Environment</li> </ul> <p>Don’t meet every single requirement?
