This position reports directly to the Head of Litigation for North America in Aon’s Chicago office. What the day will look like <br>Proactively managing Aon’s professional liability and general litigation docket from early case stages through judgment or settlement. <br>Collaborating with outside counsel to develop appropriate litigation strategy and ensure Aon is represented effectively in litigation. <br>Assisting in developing facts and legal theories, and working with potential witnesses and subject matter authorities, to reduce or eliminate Aon’s potential liability in litigated matters. <br>Crafting and implementing alternative fee agreements to align incentives and minimize costs in retaining outside legal counsel and other service providers. <br>Advising Aon’s Risk Capital and Human Capital businesses on pre-litigation matters and standard methodologies for minimizing liability and maintaining attorney-client privilege. <br>Partnering with business leaders and our risk management team to identify proactive and innovative ways to reduce errors and omissions. <br>Providing strategic advice and settlement recommendations to senior management with respect to disputed matters and significant potential liabilities. <br>Communicating with colleagues in finance and in Aon business units, and with Aon’s insurers, to ensure they are aware of significant litigation developments and upcoming events. <br>Working with communications and media relations on litigation matters to best protect Aon’s brand in publicized disputes. <br>Collaborating with our legal operations team to ensure standard processes around eDiscovery, document preservation, and service provider engagement. <br>Partnering with North America Law and Compliance Leaders on practices in contracting as it relates to dispute resolution and risk mitigation. Skills and experience that will lead to success. <br>Licensed attorney in good standing in the United States with a minimum of 5 years’ litigation experience. <br>Subject matter expertise in one or more of the following areas of litigation: professional liability, ERISA, insurance, reinsurance, health/talent consulting, complex commercial litigation; coverage litigation. <br>Collaborative mentality. <br>Ability to operate independently and negotiate with counterparties. <br>Ability to identify areas of legal concern in a company’s day-to-day operations. <br>Strong oral and written communication skills. <br>Juris Doctor Degree How we support our colleagues <br>In addition to our comprehensive benefits package, we encourage a diverse workforce. Pay Transparency Laws: <br>The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $140,000 - $175,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location. <br> <br> This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary.
