The ideal candidate would be a proven leader in the commercial space, who has deep expertise in leading complex, strategic deals as well as a passion for innovation and leveraging technology to better scale the organization. This Senior Director will lead a global team responsible for providing representation for PayPal’s internal client base while overseeing a variety of critical legal services that have significant impact to the business.</p> <p>Job Description: </p> <h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Key Responsibilities</b></h2> <ul> <li> Manage a global commercial team ~ enthusiastic about building relationships, mentoring team members, partnering with the business to close deals and establish scalable processes and procedures to support this motion.</li> <li> Negotiate key strategic merchant and partner deals in collaboration with the Global Sales organization.</li> <li> Manage escalations, collaborate across other teams and develop solutions to enable team and business partners to close deals.</li> <li> Develop a strong rapport and working relationship with business counterparts across the enterprise to help drive the delivery of effective legal services.</li> <li> Work with the members of the Commercial Legal team and others on process and contracting improvements to help create greater consistency and process within the organization, including appropriate contract standardization and contract process improvement.</li> <li> Develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of PayPal’s core business, its markets, products, customers, competitors, and regulatory environment, to identify trends, stay abreast of material developments and provide high-level legal/commercial advice to the businesses on emerging opportunities and risks from a commercial perspective.</li> </ul> <h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b> Qualifications</b></h2> <ul> <li> Licensed or eligible to practice law in the United States</li> <li> MBA or LLM is a plus.</li> <li> 12+ years of relevant experience and a law degree from an ABA accredited school</li> <li> Deep subject matter expertise in commercial sales transactions</li> <li> Customer-focused, business mindset.</li> <li> Excellent drafting, written and verbal communication skills and ability to adapt legal requirements in balanced, creative, and pragmatic ways to facilitate clear and open communication at all levels of the organization.</li> <li> Deep familiarity and demonstrated experience with commercial contracts lifecycle management, procurement operations and driving automation and other efficiencies in the commercial space.</li> <li> High comfort level with a wide range of legal issues and subject matters</li> <li> Skilled, effective, and empathetic manager who can empower team members to achieve at a consistently high level while building trusted relationships.</li> <li> A confirmed ability to effectively influence, lead, collaborate with and encourage others at all levels.</li> <li> Experience building and leading teams with an inclusive and collaborative team culture.</li> <li> High personal standards of excellence and ethics, as well as the ability to act with discretion, strict confidentiality and sensitivity towards issues and individuals.</li> <li> Ability to work efficiently under pressure, juggle multiple projects with contending priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to change in a dynamic environment.</li> <li> Strong knowledge of key legal concepts and levers in negotiations.</li> <li> Ability to balance multiple competing priorities.</li> <li> Skills to build strong working relationships and collaborate closely with key cross-functional stakeholders.</li> <li> Adaptability, flexibility, and creative approach to problem-solving.</li> <li> Thrives in a demanding environment.</li> </ul> <p></p> PayPal is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. <br> <br> Actual Compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to work location, and relevant skills and experience. <br> <br> The total compensation for this practice may include an annual performance bonus (or other incentive compensation, as applicable), equity, and medical, dental, vision, and other benefits.
