<p>Squarespace is looking for a versatile senior counsel to join our global Legal team. As a key part of the fast-growing global organization, you will work across subject matters on a range of legal and business issues, with a primary focus on financial regulations. You will serve as a strategic advisor to the company, and provide general legal advice and support across business functions.</p>
<p> You will report directly to the Assistant General Counsel and will be based in our New York City office (flex/hybrid).</p>
<h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b> You'll Get To…</b></h2>
<ul>
<li>Be a trusted advisor on legal issues, including to senior executives</li>
<li>Provide creative, flexible and proactive regulatory, product and commercial advice on payment services and related financial products</li>
<li>Identify business requirements resulting from existing, evolving and new laws and regulations</li>
<li>Review and negotiate agreements with third-party service providers and other financial services companies and banks</li>
<li>Drive regulatory and risk management for cross functional projects</li>
<li>Build scalable processes for legal review of new products</li>
<li>Efficiently leverage and manage outside counsel where necessary</li>
<li>Advise on legal strategy and best practises for customer-facing documentation</li>
<li>Develop strong working relationships, build trust and work collaboratively across multiple departments, influencing and supporting a culture of payments compliance</li>
<li>Collaborate with, and periodically travel to, our other offices in the United States and Dublin, Ireland</li>
</ul>
<h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Who We're Looking For</b></h2>
<ul>
<li>5+ years experience providing advice related to payments regulatory compliance</li>
<li>Knowledge and experience with payment product compliance and the risks and regulations applicable to consumer-facing financial services and products</li>
<li>Expertise in U.S. and international payments and financial regulations, card network rules, other rules and codes</li>
<li>Knowledge of the online payments landscape and emerging payment systems</li>
<li>Previous in-house experience in a payments or financial technology company</li>
<li>Self-starter with great judgement, commercial and solution-based outlook and the ability to work well both independently and collaboratively</li>

<h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Cash Compensation Range: $153,500 - $247,250 USD</b></h3>
<p> The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.</p>
<p> In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), all Squarespace employees are eligible to receive equity in the company as part of their total compensation.</p>
