The Intellectual Property practice at Fieldfisher has an unrivalled track record acting in high profile IP litigation on cutting edge points of law. The team is looking to expand its pool of excellent senior associates. Recent or ongoing cases include: Getty Images and others v Stability AI (on copyright infringement in relation to generative AI); Sky v Skykick (on trade mark bad faith); Illiquidx v Altana Wealth and others (on confidential information in financial services); Shorts International v Google (on trade mark infringement); Original Beauty Technology Company and others v Oh Polly Limited and others (on unregistered design infringement and passing off); 77m v Ordnance Survey and others (on database rights in mapping data); and Sazerac v Halewood (on trade mark infringement). As a Senior Associate within the IP team you will be part of a highly-regarded international practice, with colleagues across Europe and beyond. You will be responsible for supporting partners and managing junior fee earners on larger, complex cases, and running your own smaller cases with appropriate supervision. There is also an emphasis on business development activities. The focus will be primarily on soft IP, technology and data disputes. Whilst the role is predominantly contentious there may be elements of non-contentious advisory work. What can you expect? Proactively managing own files and supporting the caseload of partners in the team Managing, supervising and developing less experienced associates Corresponding with clients, counsel, expert witnesses and third parties Managing, coordinating and overseeing the performance of all essential steps in litigation A bit about you: 5 years PQE + Substantial experience of contentious work in at least two of the following fields: trade mark, copyright, design rights, database rights and confidential information / trade secrets. Substantial experience of contentious work in the following fields would also be helpful: information technology, data protection and privacy, patents. Experience working on English High Court (and superior) cases and strong knowledge of court procedure (please list case experience) Experience working as part of a team Experience working directly with clients and in house personnel Successful completion of the Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice from the University of Oxford (formerly the Bristol course) or similar would be desirable but is not essential Inclusiveness and Diversity At Fieldfisher, led by the social model of disability, we are working towards removing accessibility barriers and maximising disability and neurodiversity inclusion in our recruitment processes.
