We are currently seeking a talented Practice Area Lawyer to join our ERISA team. Qualified candidates will have recently graduated from law school with a strong academic record. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct legal research and analysis, draft legal documents, and assist in providing advice to for-profit and non-profit clients in the following practice areas: Executive Compensation: executive employment agreements, cash and equity incentive programs (e.g., stock options, restricted stock, RSUs, profits interests), deferred compensations plans under 457 and 409A, transactional support in M&A transactions. Employee Benefits / ERISA: design, compliance and correction advice regarding qualified 401(a) plans, 403(b) plans and church plans, health and welfare plans, fringe benefit programs, ERISA compliance, COBRA requirements, nondiscrimination testing, service provider contract review, audit support, IRS/DOL filings. Employment Law: employment offer letters, separation agreements and reduction in force programs, federal and state labor law compliance (e.g., FLSA, ADA, ADEA, NYS and NYC labor laws), employee handbooks and workplace policies, disability accommodations. Draft client alerts on new developments in the law, presentations (include CLE presentations) for clients. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: Juris Doctor Degree required, and admission to NY bar (within 1 year of hire). Excellent academic performance (e.g., law review, dean’s list and/or other honors). Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong legal research and analytical skills. Careful attention to details. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Self-starter and self-motivated / open and eager to learn new areas of law. A flexible problem solver, self-directed, client service oriented, and collaborative. The starting base salary is $150,000, plus competitive benefits and bonus eligibility.
