Kennedys is looking for an Associate with 3-5 PAE to join our busy litigation practice in Sydney. The successful person will work closely with two Partners and two Special Counsel primarily on multi-party Federal Court litigation which has reached the discovery phase. The focus of this work is in the insurance and trade credit space, which will involve working closely with our international offices (namely London). This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Associate to play a key role in this stream of work with the support of paralegals in the wider team. Team The broader insurance group in Sydney have extensive experience working with both domestic and international insurers amongst other corporates across multiple lines of work, with a particular depth of expertise in professional indemnity, financial institutions, directors’ and officers’ (D&O), property and construction, energy, cyber, marine, transport and commercial litigation / employment. Clients General insurers and reinsurers Lloyds syndicates/ London market insurers Global composites Self-insured PLCs Example cases The focus will be Supreme Court litigation in the trade credits space, with the opportunity to work on other insurance litigation such as: High value coverage disputes for financial institutions Directors and Officers insurance High value professional indemnity claims Subrogated recoveries on behalf of insurers International arbitrations Commodities claims Required experience 3-5 years’ experience*, from a reputable commercial litigation team Prior trade credits exposure is desirable but any Federal Court litigation experience would be advantageous. E-litigation or discovery experience would be highly regarded. Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Methodical and organised approach to file management including in relation to the delegation and mentorship of junior lawyers and paralegals. Ability to manage own time, excellent organisation skills and attention to detail High level of professionalism and integrity; displaying the highest standard of professional ethics.
