SUMMARY: The IP Litigation Paralegal will assist attorneys and paralegals in a wide range of legal projects and tasks, primarily as relates to all phases of the intellectual property litigation process, including research, discovery, summary judgment, Markman, mediation, arbitration, trial, and appeals. The position requires availability for overtime and flexibility for travel. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assists with a variety of complex ITC, federal and superior court cases from start to finish. Has the ability to support matters at any level, either by taking ownership as a lead paralegal or as a supporting member of the paralegal team. Maintains case related docketing of appearances and deadlines. Uses substantial knowledge of eDiscovery process and tools to coordinate with attorneys and vendors to create and manage electronic databases, including loading, searching, reviewing, tagging, coding, and generating productions and privilege logs. Assists with the mechanics of paper & electronic discovery, including litigation holds, data mapping, custodian interviews, chains of custody, document collections, document reviews, and productions. Prepares court filings, including proofreading, cite-checking, and compilation of declarations, exhibits & appendices. Performs electronic filing in various courts and agencies. Communicates professionally internally and externally, both orally and in writing. Assists attorneys with fact and expert discovery, depositions and hearings, including preparation of exhibits, notebooks and witness binders. Assists attorneys and paralegals with hands-on trial preparation and support, including courtroom and war room setup. Conducts factual and legal research, compiling results in an organized and succinct manner. Drafts correspondence, basic pleadings, notices and motions. Provides occasional mentoring and training of newer litigation paralegals and temporary staff as needed. Participates in committees, pilots or product deployments, including testing new or updated litigation specific software. Assists with managing vendor relationships, including contract negotiations and invoice processing. Researches, offers feedback, and general problem-solving for new or revised procedures, workflow efficiencies, law and/or rule changes, group/department/firm initiatives, etc. Maintains accurate timekeeping records on a daily basis, with a billing goal of 1400 hours annually. Completes tasks/projects/other responsibilities as firm needs dictate, including administrative tasks, pro bono matters, client development projects and assisting with projects from other departments. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of three to six (3-6) years of experience in an IP litigation practice. Ability to quickly learn and adapt to established tools, processes and procedures. Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively follow-through, communicate workflow and project updates. Excellent time management, prioritization, problem-solving, and organizational skills . Comprehensive knowledge of legal terminology, rules, regulations, and procedures specific to practice area. Attention to detail, delivering a high-quality work product. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with difference levels of constituencies. Highly flexible with the capacity to work effectively, calmly, and efficiently in a high-pressure environment. Punctual, reliable, and able to meet set deadlines and shifting demands. Demonstrates a commitment to work overtime and travel when needed. Ability to maintain confidentiality of matters and other firm business information. Location (Hybrid): Boston, MA; New York, NY; or Washington DC The expected salary range for this position is $84,600 - $105,000 annually.
