Responsibilities will include managing a caseload of cases that include in-court litigation</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Conduct outreach, education activities and leverage pro bono resources.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Collaborate with and participate in the statewide legal aid initiative to develop a disaster response plan including a Continuity of Operations Plan, templates, procedures, etc. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Collaborate with other Equal Justice Works Disaster Resilience Legal Fellows and CLS staff.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Collect and provide data on a quarterly basis relating to clients served, services provided, outcomes, and other information as requested by Equal Justice Works.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Attendance at mandatory conferences including the Annual Equal Justice Works Leadership Development Training. Additionally, the American Bar Association’s Equal Justice Conference, and Disaster Law Training.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Participate in monthly calls that alternate between substantive legal training webinars and professional development.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Supervise and mentor law students who will participate and assist with the project.</li> </ul> </div> <p></p> <p><b><br> REQUIREMENTS</b></p> <ul> <li><b> Commitment </b></li> </ul> <p> a. Unwavering dedication to high-quality legal programs, fiscal strength, and organizational integrity.</p> <ul> <li><b> Background and Experience</b></li> </ul> <ul> <li>Must be a graduate of an accredited law school and licensed to practice in the State of Florida.</li> <li>Legal experience in issues pertaining to disaster recovery services is preferred (Some of the areas of law common to disaster may include but are not be limited to housing, consumer, contractor liens/disputes, insurance claims/disputes, FEMA applications/appeals/disputes, and public benefits). </li> <li>The ability to effectively and consistently engage a broad staff and client constituency and experience working with vulnerable clients.</li> <li>Strong writing, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. </li> <li>An ability and desire to work collaboratively in a variety of contexts and with multiple organizations. </li> <li>Prior experience in managing independent projects or assignments. </li> <li>Must possess excellent time management skills and be computer literate (Microsoft Office 365, LegalServer).</li> <li>Valid Florida automobile license, use of own auto, and proof of insurance necessary.</li> <li>Willingness and ability to travel to areas affected by disaster, to provide onsite training, support, and deliver disaster legal resources to local legal aid programs. </li> <li>Ability to participate in onsite, virtual, and out-of-area training, including participation in the Equal Justice Works training in Washington, DC.</li> <li>Must not have held a full-time, permanent, public interest lawyer position previously, including any other major legal fellowship. Applicants coming from bridge/gap fellowships or clerkships, other Equal Justice Works Fellowship Programs, or the private sector are eligible to apply.</li> <li>Trial advocacy skills either practical or through law school are preferred</li> </ul> <p></p> <p><b><br> 3</b>. <b>Physical Requirements</b></p> <p> a. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.<br> b.
