We stay ahead to create the new standards our future needs with our key accelerators Climate Response, Data Solutions &amp; Consulting/Advisory</p> <p>The Associate General Counsel – Ethics &amp; Compliance is part of the Jacobs Legal Ethics &amp; Compliance team within the Legal, Risk and Compliance Department, and supports Jacobs’ reporting units and corporate functions in developing, supporting and maintaining Jacobs’ values – We do things right. Each day the Associate General Counsel is engaged in providing advice and counsel on myriad compliance issues of varying complexity, across our global operations, including in the U.S., U.K., Europe, the Middle East and Africa, India and Asia Pacific. The position involves a high degree of responsibility and independence, and Associate General Counsel must be proactive and self-motivated, with a desire to grow personally and professionally. Associate General Counsel must have excellent client management skills, persuasive writing capabilities, project management skills and great business judgment with the ability to give clear and practical legal advice.</p> <p>This position reports to the VP, Deputy General Counsel, Ethics and Compliance, and works closely with other Ethics &amp; Compliance team members across the globe, the Chief Compliance Officer, the General Counsel, the Chief Legal Officer, and other members of the Legal, Risk and Compliance Department. The Associate General Counsel also partners closely with other corporate functions and with the business on a near daily basis.</p> <p>This role will ideally be based in the Washington, DC / Maryland / Virginia area (DMV), but remote candidates based in the U.S. will be considered (with a preference for candidates near our office locations in Los Angeles, California; Dallas or Fort Worth, Texas; and Greenwood Village, Colorado).</p> <p>Typical salary range for this position is $188,200 to $329,300 and is commensurate with experience relative to the position. For “remote” positions, salary to be offered is geographic dependent.<br> </p> <b>Here’s What You’ll Need:</b> <div> <ul> <li><br> J.D. from an accredited law school, a solid academic background, and an active license to practice law in the US.</li> <li>15+ years of legal experience practicing law in a government agency and/or a law firm, or as in-house counsel, specializing and with a focus in ethics and compliance, government investigations and/or white-collar criminal defense, both with respect to day-to-day advice and counsel but also in managing ethics and compliance investigations and associated claims.</li> <li>History of developing and implementing successful ethics and compliance strategies / programs and functioning effectively with business clients and management.</li> </ul> </div> <div> <b>Ideally you will also have:</b> <br> <ul> <li>Knowledge, understanding and experience with government agency (e.g., SEC or Department of Justice) investigations and associated processes (from internal awareness through any agency action) in the U.S.</li> <li>Knowledge, understanding and experience with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other similar anti-corruption laws across the globe (e.g., the U.K. Bribery Act).</li> <li>Knowledge and understanding of U.S. sanctions laws and export control laws, and willingness to understand sanctions and export controls laws of other countries.</li> <li>Prior government enforcement agency employment experience (e.g., with the SEC or Department of Justice).</li> <li>Ability to adapt to the nuance and complexity associated with the in-house counsel role and the evaluation of company ethics and compliance risks in order to provide practical advice and counsel to internal stakeholders.</li> <li>Willingness to develop working knowledge of ethics and compliance laws outside of the U.S. to provide day-to-day advice associated with ethics and compliance matters, in consultation with external counsel when needed.</li> <li>Knowledge and experience in developing, updating and implementing compliance policies, procedures and training.</li> <li>Conduct and coordinate internal investigations concerning potential Code of Conduct, conflicts of interest, financial misconduct, and other violations of internal company policies or the law that may present compliance or legal risk to the company.</li> <li>Ability to conduct root cause analyses of identified misconduct and/ or compliance risks, and to develop appropriate remediation measures.</li> <li>Ability to synthesize voluminous facts and information down to essential and pertinent facts for the issue at hand.</li> <li>Displays exceptional work ethic to meet the evolving demands of a growing enterprise.</li> <li>Excellent communication skills; initiative-taking style.</li> <li>Is open to change and new information; adapts behavior and work methods in response to new information, changing conditions or unexpected obstacles; effectively deals with pressure and ambiguity.</li> <li>Deals calmly and effectively with high stress situations.</li> <li>Detail oriented and analytical; creative.</li> <li>High degree of business savvy.</li> <li>Identifies problems, determines accuracy and relevance of information, uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and makes sound, well informed and unbiased recommendations.</li> <li>Strong writing and public speaking skills.</li> <li>Quick study, able to manage complex matters, with multiple initiatives going on simultaneously.</li> <li>Ability and willingness to support Jacobs’ values, including demonstrated ability to live inclusion.</li> <li>Elevated level of curiosity, humility and willingness to be a forward looking, global thinker.</li> </ul> </div> Jacobs is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
