<div id="jobDescriptionText" class="jobsearch-jobDescriptionText" dir="ltr"><div> <div> Job Description: </div> <div> The Assistant General Counsel, Litigation &amp; Regulatory will serve as a key member of the Company’s Legal Department and will play a leading role in managing the Company’s active litigation and regulatory matters. This role will report to the Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel &amp; Assistant Corporate Secretary. </div> <div> <br> This is an important role in a fast-paced, professional and collaborative organization. The ideal candidate will be comfortable interacting with senior management, handling complex commercial litigation matters and working closely across the Company’s departments to minimize risk while achieving strategic initiatives. This candidate should have the ability to drive results through designing processes and synthesizing data with a strategic mindset. A commitment to excellence, attention to detail and enthusiasm for taking on new challenges are critical to success in the role. </div> <div></div> <div> Responsibilities </div> <div> <br> Litigation Management </div> <ul> <li> Manage the Company’s litigation, including professional liability and general liability claims, class action claims, employment litigation, contractual disputes, internal investigations and other litigation matters.</li> <li> Work with internal and external stakeholders, partners and outside counsel to manage risk effectively.</li> <li> Prepare periodic reporting for the General Counsel and SVP, Deputy General Counsel that summarizes and distills the status of the Company’s litigation portfolio.</li> <li> Prepare for and attend select arbitrations, mediations, settlement conferences, critical depositions, significant hearings, and trials; periodic travel may be required.</li> </ul> <div></div> <div> Regulatory Management </div> <ul> <li> Assist in designing and overseeing the company’s regulatory compliance program, including healthcare licenses associated with the Company’s seniors housing portfolio.</li> </ul> <div></div> <div> Operational Excellence </div> <ul> <li> Identify, design, develop and implement processes and tools, in collaboration with the Legal Operations Manager, for the oversight of litigation and regulatory compliance that utilizes data to drive results and advance business objectives.</li> </ul> <div></div> <div> Other </div> <ul> <li> Supervise a dedicated Corporate Litigation Paralegal.</li> <li> Act as a valued member of team in developing a litigation strategy when managing workouts or other special situations.</li> <li> Assist with the company's compliance program</li> <li> Assist with due diligence and other pertinent workstreams in M&amp;A transactions.</li> </ul> <div></div> <div> Qualifications </div> <ul> <li> J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school Admission to, and good standing in, any state bar or the District of Columbia bar.</li> <li> 7+ years of experience in litigation practice at a law firm and/or in-house environment, with experience in healthcare professional liability claims preferred</li> <li> Experience with insured litigation and claims disputes preferred</li> <li> Ability to organize, integrate and analyze complex information from a number of sources</li> <li> Collaborative; able to establish and maintain strong partnerships with all stakeholders, ensuring their involvement and gaining their support to drive desired outcomes</li> <li> Sound and ethical judgment based on legal expertise, a deep understanding of the business objectives and an appropriate balancing of legal risks and business needs Process oriented and able to lead and effect process change and improvements</li> <li> Proficiency in Office 365 applications; Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required</li> <li> Excellent drafting, organization and communication skills</li> <li> Chicago strongly preferred, but would consider remote employees</li> </ul> <div> <br> #LI-Hybrid </div> <div></div> <div> Ventas, Inc. offers a competitive compensation and benefits package to the successful candidate. </div> <div></div> <div> Ventas, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer. </div> <div></div> <div> Ventas, Inc. does not accept unsolicited resumes from staffing agencies, search firms or any third parties. </div> </div></div>
