Bring your passion, potential and talents to a career that matters. <br> <br> Department Overview The Global Data Protection Counsel will serve as a key leader on the Data Protection Enterprise team at Motorola Solutions, Inc. MSI and will drive continuous maturation of the privacy program. This role will serve as a subject matter expert on privacy and data protection compliance and accountability to stakeholders across the organization globally. In addition, will serve as the legal and compliance advisor to the enterprise functions within the organization e.g. Procurement, Marketing, HR, Enterprise Information Security, Sales, legal, Global Data Protection Products, Audit, Government Affairs and other compliance operations etc. as needed. While the Global Data Protection Counsel will report to the Sr. Director, Data Protection Enterprise, heshe will also work closely and collaboratively across various organizations within the company globally. <br>Job Description <br>Note This position can be remote anywhere in the USA, though IL is preferred. <br> <br> Responsibilities <br> <br> Provide pragmatic legal guidance and counsel on the interpretation or application of the data protection laws and regulations globally for procurement marketing, HR, Enterprise Information Security and other functional and business areas. Manage address global data privacy matters and direct efforts of local operations as necessary to resolve issues andor implement corrective actions. <br> <br> Assist with maintaining and monitoring MSI Binding Corporate Rules. Assists in drafting privacy policies and procedures and monitoring compliance with other privacy and security policies and standards across the organization <br> <br> Assist in fostering a culture of data protection within the organization, through training and awareness and implementing essential elements of privacy by design and default. Support the Privacy and Data Security Committee programs and activities as needed. Conduct participate in audits to mitigate risks. <br> <br> Work with IT and other crossfunctional teams to prioritize and understand data security initiatives and to ensure legal compliance. Maintains records of the companys data privacy and cybersecurity compliance efforts. Provide management reports of global data protection landscape internal &amp; external <br> <br> Support the development, deployment and maintenance of incident response procedures and the privacy runbook. Support information security and other teams in responding to data privacy and security incidents <br> <br> Conduct data privacy risk and gap assessments for business operations globally and coordinate with internal audit and information security teams as required <br> <br> Support efforts of the Data Protection Office to ensure an evergreen data asset inventory, including data flows and data mapping <br> <br> Draft and or review contract language relating to privacy and security clauses to ensure alignment to company security standards and minimize data privacy and security risks. As part of the review, work closely with procurement and procurement legal teams to assist with vendor business process privacy risk assessments <br> <br> Review and provide guidance on data processing agreements and standard contractual clauses, including transfer risk assessments <br> <br> Support the process for the consistent use of data privacy impact assessment where necessitated by business process supplier updates <br> <br> Participate in enterprise risk management efforts and meetings as needed <br> <br> Support Government Affairs review of upcoming laws and frameworks and provide timely input in line with Motorola Solutions business interests <br> <br> Support with internal and external queries as necessary in relation to data protection investigations and practices, withdrawal of consent, subject access rights, and right to be forgotten and other data subject rights globally <br> <br> Support M&amp;A transactions as privacy subject matter expert from due diligence through integration <br> <br> Manage and evolve global data use and privacy policies and strategies in coordination with teams based around the world, both responding to global legal changes and providing proactive thought leadership on questions for which there is no developed law <br> <br> Maintain knowledge and expertise in global data privacy laws, frameworks and advise on impact to Motorola Solutions e.g. HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, CPA, PDPA, LGPD, VCDPA NIST etc. <br> <br> Engage with privacy regulators as may be required <br> <br> Degree of Autonomy <br> <br> Works mostly autonomously. Determines objectives of new and ongoing assignments and seeks management input for high complexity issues and matters that may pose legal, financial andor reputational risk to the company. <br> <br> Regularly briefs manager on work as appropriate and escalates complex matters or decisions to DPO and or VP. <br> <br> May be required to manage supervise guide the companies outside counsel, other third party service providers <br> <br> Knowledge or Expertise <br> <br> Excellent analytical, Interpersonal and communication skills written and verbal <br> <br> Experience applying knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve success <br> <br> Excellent negotiation, problem solving, consultation, and analytical skills <br> <br> Well organized, detail oriented and adept in a fast paced environment. <br> <br> Experience with legal policies and procedures.
