Description
King & Spalding, a leading global law firm, is currently seeking a paralegal to join our Trial and Global Disputes practice group, specifically the Appellate team, in Washington, DC. The department offers the opportunity for a paralegal to join an innovative and collaborate team focused on supporting matters for high-level clients. The Paralegal will work closely with attorneys and report to the Paralegal Manager. Candidates will have the following responsibilities: Prepare materials to be filed with the U.S. Supreme Court, federal courts of appeal, state courts, and administrative/governmental agencies. Cite check briefs; edit citations according to Blue Book format. Ensure all filings comply with local rules and requirements. Proofread typed material for contextual, grammatical, formatting, typographical, and spelling errors. Manage the production of large filings, including advance preparation of appendices and exhibits, evaluating and arranging for special staffing needs, and actual production. Organize and prioritize numerous tasks effectively and complete tasks under strict time constraints. Utilize docketing system to ensure all deadlines are met; update docketing system as necessary as deadlines are revised or added.Successful candidates are detail oriented, efficient, and have the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast paced, high volume environment. Candidates must possess the ability to work on multiple cases simultaneously and multitask with ease. Candidates should have very strong blue booking skills and previous experience filing in the federal appellate courts. Candidates should have advanced practical skills in MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Professional. Candidates are required to have a bachelor’s degree with a 3.5 GPA preferred; 3-5 years of experience in a large firm or legal environment is also preferred.
