Job Description: The Position Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is seeking an Healthcare Services Attorney in Madison, Milwaukee or Waukesha or a remote attorney with at least five years of experience in healthcare procurement and commercial transactions. The attorney should have experience working with healthcare clients and industry businesses on commercial and procurement matters, or in an in-house role responsible for such matters including provider relations and compensation; negotiating vendor contracts, SaaS or other technology license agreements, provider agreements, payor network agreements, leases, and other contracts; billing and payment issues; corporate governance; credentialing; privacy and cybersecurity; and training. The attorney should have familiarity with relevant regulatory compliance areas such as the False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, Physician Self-Referral Law (Stark Law), Medicare exclusion and Civil Monetary Penalty (CMP) actions, antitrust laws, and tax exemption, with experience in analyzing HIPAA and other healthcare data security and privacy terms strongly preferred. The attorney should like to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will be located in one of our Wisconsin offices or our Chicago, Illinois office, but can be located in any of our offices. Extensive experience negotiating, drafting, and reviewing complex customer and service vendor contracts with large provider networks/systems or regional payors, either in an outside counsel, or in-house legal or procurement role; Experience with payor reimbursement strategies for vendors and providers (ACOs, MSSP, Population Health and Bundled Payment programs); Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules and related state privacy regulations. Additional regulatory experience (AKS, Stark Law, CMP) not required, but valuable; and Experience in dealing with approval process and internal politics of larger provider systems. A portable book is not required for this role, and this role is open to candidates with exclusively in-house experience. The Company This is an opportunity to work with the Best.
