Job Description: Perform legal functions concerning preparation and representation of assigned cases. Follow ethical requirements of the Rules of Professional Conduct of the state bar. Set retainer and payment schedule with clients for legal services. Assume responsibility for obtaining security and collecting any receivable on assigned cases. Review and analyze newly assigned and existing matters to provide legal representation until matter concluded. Draft all necessary documents to provide legal representation to clients and route through the appropriate office procedures to produce final documents. Perform necessary legal research using all available resources including libraries and computer data systems. Formulate and issue well-founded legal opinions to clients. Effectively conduct negotiations to resolve matters for clients. Understand and analyze documents with complex chemical structures and synthetic processes; interact in Korean and English with client representatives and experts fluent in the technology of pharmaceuticals and biochemistry and electronics. Communicate complex chemistry and electronics concepts in simple terms to clients and others in Korean and English. Apply bioengineering to understand concepts relating to design, manufacture and operation of medical devices from both biology and engineering perspective. Advise and communicate regularly with clients in Korean and English regarding the status of legal matter. Maintain membership in state bar and complete all required Continuing Legal Education requirements annually. Job Requirements: Juris Doctor (JD) and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or Bioengineering and two years of experience as a patent litigation attorney in a private law firm environment Must possess two years of experience as an attorney working on patent litigation with electronics patents or a combination of electronics and biomedical patents. Must be licensed to practice law in the State of California. Law degree must be from an ABA-accredited school. Must have ability to read, write, and speak Korean and English fluently.
