Department purpose Our Asset Management / Investment Funds team is comprised of lawyers across our office network, covering all of the world’s principal financial markets. We are able to offer our clients expertise in the key regions, from a full-service coverage of the key European jurisdictions, including Paris, Luxembourg, London, Brussels, Amsterdam and Frankfurt, to our U.S. regulatory practice led from our Boston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Silicon Valley and Washington, D.C. offices. We also have well established offices in the Middle East and Asia Pacific region that have been involved in setting up many of the regulatory systems that exist in those regions today. Our lawyers offer clients extensive regulatory experience and they lead thinking on regulatory developments, helping clients in lobbying on, planning for and implementing changes as they occur. Areas we advise on include fund structuring, asset management regulatory, fund financing and fund review. As an international team we are very experienced in providing international comparative advice on regulatory matters that helps our clients decide where best to conduct their business and gives them a competitive advantage. Role purpose We are looking for an experienced EU Knowledge Lawyer to join and lead our European Know-How Asset Management / Investment Funds team. This is an exciting opportunity to: Develop and maintain our know-how resources and tools for the asset management and investment fund industry across EU; Provide expert guidance and analysis on the EU regulatory framework and market developments affecting our asset managers clients and practice; Support our lawyers and clients with training, updates, and queries on EU fund-related matters; Contribute to our thought leadership and business development initiatives.Role and responsibilities Monitoring and analysing the latest developments and trends in EU regulations affecting the fund/asset management industry and assessing their impact on our clients and practice; Preparing and updating EU regulations horizon scanning reports and tools; Producing high-quality and engaging client materials, such as brochures, alerts, newsletters and podcasts, on the EU regulatory topics in collaboration with our local funds and business development & marketing teams; Maintaining and enhancing our internal EU know-how database; Coordinating and conducting comparative surveys and cross-border market studies on various fund-related regulatory matters; Identifying and delivering client seminars and training sessions (both internal and external) on the EU regulatory matters impacting of the fund/asset management industry; Exploring and implementing IT solutions and new technologies to improve the capture, sharing and communication of our know-how; Acting as the main contact and coordinator for the EU know-how content related to asset management and investment funds across the firm; Liaising and collaborating with the European know-how community, business development, marketing and other support teams to ensure alignment and consistency of our messages and services.Who we are looking for Ideally a qualification as a fund lawyer with at least 7 years of post-qualification experience (no upper limit) or similar in-house / Big 4 experience; Excellent technical skills, with a strong interest in the commercial and legal issues relating to asset management and investment funds; Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal skills research and analytical and the ability to work effectively with different stakeholders and teams; Experience in working in a cross-border and multicultural environment; Experience in liaising with industry associations and EU regulators; Excellent knowledge of the European regulatory framework impacting funds and asset managers, such as UCITS directive, AIFMD, ELTIF and also ideally, MiFID, AMLD and SFDR; Energy, enthusiasm and a pro-active approach to your work; Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Additional European languages (e.g. French and German) are a plus; Previous experience in a similar role is desirable, but not essential.
