In recent times, the team has advised on over 1500 incidents, including a number of the highest profile and complex incidents, both locally and globally. About the role Our Sydney office is currently seeking an Associate (2-4 years) with strong insurance coverage experience to join our leading and rapidly expanding cyber team to focus on assisting insurers navigate complex coverage issues arising from breaches. The role also involves the monitoring of live breaches and acting as the first notification of loss in some instances. This role has two main focusses: Manage complex claims and disputes related to what a cyber insurance policy covers including assessing complex issues such as business interruption losses; and Monitoring the live handling of cyber incidents by corporates or their appointed lawyers / vendors. The nature and size of the team will mean that you will be heavily involved in all aspects of their matters allowing you to make a significant contribution to their outcome and your personal and professional development. Given the fast-paced nature of the work, you will develop core skills and experience at an expeditious rate. Further, you will be encouraged to foster and generate client relationships and will engage in business development frequently. Within a supportive environment, you will have the autonomy to manage your own case load and liaise directly with clients. You will also work with clients across sectors, as well as partners and lawyers both in Australia and across our network of over 50 offices. Our Global Secondment Program also provides lawyers with opportunities to visit other offices to develop internal and external relationships. Key skills and experience We’re looking for an ambitious lawyer who enjoys working as part of dynamic and collaborative team. Strong academic credentials, self-driven with excellent verbal and written communications skills. An understanding of the insurance market and the market players. An interest in cyber security and cyber risks. Proven experience handling a high caseload and working in a fast-paced environment. A critical mind and focus on problem solving is a must. Strong time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities effectively. Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work independently. Commercial awareness and confidence in building a rapport with clients to gain a better understanding of their business’ needs and with the assistance of the partner, actively developing these client relationships.
