The Opportunity The Opportunity: We are seeking a Solicitor to join our leading Band 1 and award-winning Dispute Resolution team to be based in Sydney. In this role you will work closely with leading partners Luke Hastings, Andrew Eastwood and Christine Wong and other senior lawyers across the group. You will undertake a range of work that supports national and international clients with contentious financial services regulatory matters as well as competition law disputes, internal investigations, commissions of inquiry, and other commercial litigation. You will be a key member of a highly motivated and innovative team comprising front-line lawyers, members of our Alternative Legal Services team, and our broader FSR team. You will have responsibility for handling files and working with colleagues in our interstate and international offices. We will provide you with extensive client exposure and opportunities to develop a network of relationships. You will benefit from exceptional learning opportunities working in a team of highly ambitious and collaborative fee-earners. To be successful in this role, you will have: demonstrable experience across a range of commercial litigation matters especially within financial service regulatory from a leading top tier, national or international private practice; or an in-house environment; ideally have 2-5 years’ legal experience, however we are open to considering candidates with more or less experience; an excellent academic record coupled with strong legal skills and a practical mindset; a proactive approach and desire to be an integral member of our leading and supportive team; an ability to work to tight timeframes, collaboratively and at times autonomously; excellent communication skills and ability to demonstrate collegiality within a team; have a hunger to learn and develop, and be part of maintaining a market-leading practice. The team: We have established operations in the key global finance hubs and a practice combining broad transactional and regulatory expertise and experience with one of the world’s elite dispute resolution teams. We have a deep knowledge and understanding of the regulations themselves, and of the regulators who devise and enforce them. We are genuine specialists in this field, and act as trusted advisors to our clients, providing advice that showcases our technical expertise and practical commercial outlook. We help our clients solve their most complex and sensitive national and international regulatory challenges (both proactive and reactive).
