Role Overview Stoel Rives’ Sacramento Office is seeking a Environmental/Natural Resources Litigation Associate with 4+ years of experience in environmental, land use, and/or natural resources law. Our associates gain exceptional first-hand experience on sophisticated legal matters through their work with senior lawyers and clients involving a variety of complex and cutting-edge issues pertaining to water rights, energy development, agency permitting, land use, and pollution control laws. Associates in our group enjoy close collaboration, working in teams, leadership opportunities, developing deep expertise on issues important to our clients, and meaningful opportunities to build connections with clients early in their career. Skills Needed to Be Effective in This Role We pride ourselves in forming diverse teams with a wide array of interpersonal and professional attributes. If you have many of these skills, and are enthusiastic to learn, we encourage you to apply. • Litigation experience with environmental, land use and/or natural resource issues; • Litigation experience in administrative proceedings or with regulatory compliance, including before regional, state or federal agencies; • Or, commercial litigation experience with one or more of the above. We anticipate that associates will have: • Excellent research and writing skills that can be deployed with flexibility to meet internal and external client needs; • Good judgment, responsiveness, and perseverance; • Strong intellectual curiosity; • Self-motivation; • A commitment to client service and team success; • Clerkship or externship with a federal appellate court, federal district court, or state appellate court (preferred) • JD from an accredited university; and • Active membership in or commitment to applying for the California State bar. The pay range for this position in the State of California is $205,000+; however, the base compensation presented to a candidate may vary based on skills and overall experience. This information is provided per California’s pay transparency law, SB 1162. This salary range is based on market location.
