Our Opportunity We are currently looking a Senior Associate to join the Corporate M&A (Energy & Resources) practice in Melbourne. Since our arrival in Australia in 2016 our Australian practice has grown to 34 partners and 80 lawyers across Sydney and Melbourne. Our teams work with clients in every state of Australia, across the Asia-Pacific region and around the globe on all aspects of the energy, infrastructure, power (including renewable energy) mining & metals sectors, and on high-profile public market and private equity M&A transactions. From the moment you join, you will be interacting with multidisciplinary teams from across our international offices and practice groups, from Project Finance to Private Equity. As well as learning from leading practitioners within our own group, you will therefore also be ideally placed to integrate yourself within the firm’s wider global network. Duties and Accountabilities1 Drafting and reviewing legal and technical documentation Conducting legal and technical research Analysing commercial and legal information Working directly with clients and managing relationships Involvement in due diligence – analysis of agreements and their subsequent description Drafting legal memoranda on broad range of topics arising under commercial law and corporate law precedents Manage more junior associates and graduates on transactions Qualifications and attributes required Admission in Australia, England & Wales or other Common Law jurisdiction qualification PQE 4 years Interest in cross-border energy M&A transactions Good understanding of the key risks and issues involved in large transactions.
