Responsibilities: Advise clients on estate planning with a focus on tax strategies, including GRATs, QPRTs, IDGTs, CRUTs, CLATs, ILITs, and SLA(N)Ts. Conduct thorough legal research on tax and California trust laws and draft legal memoranda analyzing proposed transactions. Collaborate with CPAs, financial advisors, and attorneys to identify tax-efficient structures for estate and business planning. Handle post-death trust administrations and probates. Requirements: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and an LL.M. degree in Taxation. Admitted to practice law in California and in good standing — (Admittance in additional states such as Nevada, Delaware, or Wyoming is a plus). Strong knowledge of federal tax laws. Experience drafting complex estate planning documents. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and verbal and written communication skills. Strong work ethic and professionalism. Ability to meet billable hour expectations and work in-person at our downtown Santa Barbara office. Compensation and Benefits: The compensation (base annual salary plus an incentive bonus plan) range for our 1 to 3 year associates is $135,000 to $220,000, depending on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. A full-time associate is also eligible for the following firm benefits: vacation, sick time, medical insurance, dental insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, life insurance, disability insurance, 401(k) plan and profit-sharing contributions.
