Phillips 66 &amp; YOU - Together we can fuel the future <br> <br> Counsel – Litigation will report to Managing Counsel – Litigation &amp; Claims and work as a member of his/her team. Counsel will consult with business management and other members of the Phillips 66 Legal Team. <br> <br> <b>Responsibilities May Include:</b> <br> Providing legal support for complex litigation/claims section of large corporate law department. <br> <br> Managing complex personal injury defense litigation docket to include developing case strategies, case plans, case budgets, costs management, overseeing and advising outside counsel, and conducting risk analyses. <br> <br> Working directly with claimants and/or their legal representatives in the resolution of disputes. <br> <br> Recommending course of action to Phillips 66 business representatives. <br> <br> Providing legal advice to Phillips 66 management and staff and providing direction to procure the optimal early resolution through ADR or, if necessary, trial of personal injury matters. <br> <br> Ensuring litigation costs associated with personal injury claims are appropriate for the magnitude and risk of the matter. <br> <br> Being on call during Crisis Management situations. <br> <br> <b>Required Qualifications:</b> <br> Legally authorized to work in the job posting country <br> <br> J.D. degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association <br> <br> Admitted to the State Bar of Texas or other appropriate jurisdiction <br> <br> 6 or more years of litigation experience <br> <br> Ability to prepare and present clear, concise and persuasive oral/written opinions, reports, correspondence and presentations <br> <br> Ability to manage and prioritize assignments which may be broad in scope and complexity, and which involve collaborative work with employees in different departments or with varying degrees of seniority <br> <br> <b>Preferred Qualifications:</b> <br> Knowledge and experience with complex litigation cases in a variety of areas, including by not limited to, Contact Dispute, Real Estate, Tort/Toxic, Environmental, Employment and FERC litigation <br> <br> Experience providing advice to clients in crisis management situations <br> <br> Experience in insurance or dispute resolution <br> <br> Superior mediation negotiation, advocacy and presentation skills, and mature judgment and discretion <br> <br> Self-initiation on regular and complex assignments <br> <br> Experience and leadership in the discovery process, both paper and electronic (including the updated Federal Rules of Discovery) <br> <br> Effective utilization and communication with internal support staff including assigned paralegal and administrative assistant <br> <br> Excellent written and oral communication skills required; ability to effectively manage and communicate with internal business clients and outside the Company with opposing and outside counsel, experts, witnesses and vendors, constructively channeling conflict to produce a positive outcome <br> <br> Ability to work independently within broadly defined objectives, being able to perform job functions without extensive supervision, taking ownership of projects and accepting responsibility <br> <br> Ability to anticipate and address customers’ changing needs <br> <br> Ability to learn quickly and apply Phillips 66 policies, procedures, operations and industry practices <br> <br> Comprehensive analytical, conceptual, problem-solving, planning, evaluation and legal project management skills <br> <br> Experience with decision tree risk analysis <br> <br> Effective use of knowledge and experience in establishing and weighing alternatives for making decisions associated with area of responsibility <br> <br> Capable of establishing professional credibility with variety of clients and management <br> <br> Total Rewards <br> <br> At Phillips 66, providing access to high quality programs and care for you and your family is important to us.
