Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and seasoned lawyer to oversee and handle our trucking-defense-litigation caseload in Southern California. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in the defense of trucking-accident and/or complex personal-injury cases. In addition to managing their own cases, the candidate will be responsible for leading and helping manage a team of attorneys and staff members, providing guidance and mentorship, and contributing to the growth and development of our trucking-defense litigation practice in Southern California. NO PORTABLE BUSINESS IS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION. Key Responsibilities: Manage a caseload of trucking-defense litigation matters from inception to resolution, including investigation, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation. Provide timely, well-reasoned counsel, advice, and recommendations to clients and claims professionals regarding litigation strategy, settlement, and other litigation matters. Lead a team of attorneys and support staff, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal services in a timely and efficient manner. Develop and implement litigation strategies and recommendations to optimize case outcomes, minimize risks, and achieve client objectives. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, industry partners, and other relevant stakeholders. Stay abreast of legal developments, trends, and best practices in trucking-defense litigation, and provide thought leadership within the firm and the legal community. Collaborate with others in the firm to develop and execute initiatives to grow and expand the trucking-defense litigation practice, including business development, marketing, and client-outreach efforts. Key Qualifications: Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited and reputable law school, with good academic credentials. A current license to practice law in the State of California (active and in good standing). 10–20 years of litigation experience with a specific focus on the defense of trucking-accident and/or complex personal-injury litigation. A track record of success in handling complex litigation matters through trial and/or appeal. Experience drafting complaints, answers, motions, and other pleadings. Significant experience taking and defending depositions, including expert-witness depositions. Strong leadership skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team of attorneys and support staff. The ability to distill research into meaningful and persuasive written work product and to work meticulously to ensure the quality of the work product. Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills, both written and verbal. Commitment to professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct in all aspects of legal practice. A demonstrated dedication to client service. While we encourage our attorneys to have a regular presence in the office to promote collegiality and our firm culture, our remote work policy provides for some remote work options. The annualized salary range for this position in Irvine, California is $150,000 to $220,000. While a portable book is not required, attorneys who have portable clients may be eligible for additional compensation. Actual pay will be adjusted based on the candidate’s education, training, experience, and any other job-related factors permitted by law.
