Description
Baker McKenzie’s Tax Practice is a leader within our Firm and one of the most highly regarded tax practices in the world. Ranked Band 1 by Chambers Global for its work worldwide, the tax practice is recognized by clients and industry peers for the quality tax advice it provides. Our tax practice expertly covers all aspects of tax planning and transactions, dispute resolution (both administrative and litigation), tax policy, transfer pricing, indirect taxes and wealth management tax advice and planning. Baker McKenzie seeks a mid- to senior-level transactional tax associate to join its tax practice in the United States. In this role, you will be advising a diverse range of clients on the structuring of domestic and cross-border investments in various asset classes, private investment offerings and mergers and acquisitions and the drafting and negotiation of related contracts and investment documents. You will also be drafting memoranda and opinions on the most current, complex US tax issues. The successful candidate will have 3-7 years of relevant tax experience in some of the following areas: real estate taxation (including REITs, qualified opportunity zones and 1031 like-kind exchanges), private equity (including fund formation, carried interest structures and M&A), partnership tax and joint ventures, energy (including tax credit monetization transactions), and family office structuring and related issues. The candidate must enjoy operating in a dynamic environment and be able to work with colleagues in different practice groups and countries. In addition, the successful candidate must enjoy learning and embracing new, developing areas of the tax law in which there is limited formal guidance. Top academic credentials are a prerequisite; an LLM in taxation is not required, but may be favorably considered. Applicants must be admitted to and a member in good standing of the local bar of the office to which the candidate is applying. Please include a cover letter, transcripts, and resume with your application. Expected Salary Range: $260,000 to $420,000
