Job Description: Transactional Energy Associate | DC | #3306 Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP is seeking an attorney with 2-5 years of experience to work with its Energy and Commodities Trading team within the Energy practice group in the Washington, DC office. We are looking to add a dynamic new team member with a collaborative outlook and ambition to join as an Associate, representing the next generation of our practice. We cultivate exceptional attorneys across all levels by providing them with the experiences and resources needed to build successful careers! The Associate will join a supportive practice and multidisciplinary team that handles commercial, transactional, and regulatory matters for domestic and multinational firms. These firms trade in traditional energy, agriculture, and metals markets, as well as emerging renewable energy, fuels, and carbon markets. The role will be primarily transactional. Deals will range from simple commodity trades to complex structured transactions, to financing arrangements (e.g., loans, leases, repurchase agreements, receivable facilities, etc.). You would also have assignments in related regulatory matters, including strategic commercial advice, exchange inquires, regulatory enforcement, and other disputes. Additionally, the Associate will have extensive interaction with a variety of clients including large commercial firms, active in both the physical and derivatives markets, hedge funds, and entities registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and National Futures Association (NFA) as swap dealers, commodity trading advisors, introducing brokers, among others. We are seeking attorneys who possess: Two to five years of law firm experience and transactional experience. Skills and knowledge related to topics such as entity formation, security interests, financing, and how to close a deal. Some prior experience with commodities. Excellent writing, presentation, and analytical skills. Strong academic records and impressive communication abilities.
