Armstrong Teasdale LLP is seeking a Health Care Paralegal to join its team. The Health Care Litigation Paralegal supports attorneys throughout all legal processes including written discovery, collection of relevant documents, research, depositions, trial preparation, and trial execution. This position is expected to meet or exceed a billable hour model and must encompass strong organization skills with an eye for detail. Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Assists attorneys in drafting and revising discovery and motions including preparing records and exhibits for production, tracking documents produced, tracking outstanding records requests and following up to ensure all records and documents are collected, analyzed and summarized for client Assists with trial preparation including being responsible for compilation of and identification of trial exhibits, attends trials and actively assists with technology, witnesses and exhibits in the courtroom Prepares, downloads and tracks court filings including electronic filings, state and federal filings, and court pleadings Maintains compliance deadlines through docketing administration Draft client correspondence for attorneys Conducts research, compiles and organizes materials to prepare for depositions, hearings and trials Prepares discovery production materials Obtains and analyzes records and documents Work with experts in all areas of litigation including prepare materials for experts as well as conduct research regarding experts and prior testimony Serve as a point of contact for clients Competencies: Decision Making – Makes decisions quickly and potentially with limited information; structures and coordinates personal and team priorities Communication – Communicates in a clear, concise and organized manner; prevents miscommunication by clarifying difficult concepts and ensures understanding by others; knows the appropriate amount of information to share with various parties; ensures regular and consistent information is shared; understands the appropriate level of confidentiality Leadership – Gives upward positive and constructive feedback and offers solutions; onboards leadership; identifies overarching areas for improvement and presents solutions; distributes work amongst team; has vision to plan and execute long-term strategic goals Continuous Learning – Identifies training needs and opportunities for self, team and firm; promotes changes and acts as a change agent Teamwork – Inspires the team to drive for results; fuels passion; encourages team feedback; fosters an open-door policy with team and works with others to identify solutions Alignment to Values - Consistently demonstrates the Firm’s values and offers constructive feedback to team members regarding the values; strives to learn more and participate in diversity and inclusion efforts; demonstrates respect by understanding and providing support Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent Preferred Education: Associate’s degree in paralegal studies Required Experience: 2 years in legal industry or equivalent transferrable skills from industries such as insurance, government, regulatory/compliance administration; skilled in Microsoft Office and Excel Preferred Experience: 3-5 years as a Litigation Paralegal Supervisory Responsibilities: indirect Physical Activity: The employee will be required to sit for prolonged periods and work on a computer Travel Required: 5% Other Duties: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
