Overview:
The Director, Assistant General Counsel, JV/ASC Operations and Compliance role provides legal advice and counsel in the areas of joint ventures and other endeavors related to Novant Health Enterprises, a division of Novant Health. This role supports operations and compliance of Novant’s joint ventures related to the provision of patient care outside of Novant’s main facilities. The ideal candidate has a blend of regulatory and transactional experience with a special focus on fraud and abuse and contracting related to transactions. This role reports and takes direction from the Senior Director and Assistant General Counsel over compliance and privacy.

Qualifications:
<ul>
<li><b>Education</b>: 4 Year / Bachelor’s Degree, required. Undergraduate Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university, required. Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school, required.</li>
<li><b> Experience</b>: 7+ Years Experience in the Practice of Law, required. Previous experience in law or a healthcare setting, preferred.</li>
<li><b> License/certifications</b>: Admission to the bar of at least one state or the District of Columbia, required. Admission to the bar of South Carolina, preferred.</li>
<li><b> Additional skills required</b>:
<ul>
<li> 7-8+ years experience in the practice of law.</li>
<li> Regulatory healthcare experience.</li>
<li> Experience with the Anti-Kickback Statue (AKS), the Stark Law, and other regulations.</li>
<li> Healthcare transactional experience (physician acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, etc.)</li>
<li> Foundational knowledge of healthcare operations.</li>
<li> Skills for problem solving, teamwork, and developing innovative solutions. Excellent communication skills required. Ability to handle unusual, demanding and unrelated tasks and strong organizational skills.</li>
<li> Speed to Market: Effectively works in a fast-paced work environment to deliver results.</li>
<li> Problem Solving: Strong analytical, critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.</li>
<li> Judgment: Demonstrated ability to act independently upon information and make decisions that achieve optimal results.</li>

<li><b> Additional Skills/Requirements (preferred)</b>: Experience with value-based arrangements, physician networks and clinically integrated networks.</li>

<li>Develop policies, practices, and procedures that have a significant impact on the Provides reliable and well-researched advice on all manner matters</li>
<li>Advises on specific health care issues such as HIPAA Privacy Rule, the False Claims Act, the Anti-Kickback statute, government and confidentiality issues.</li>
<li>Reviews and prepares agreements and contracts</li>
<li>Assists in the development of new policies, procedures and forms for the organization.</li>
<li>Maintains professional competency, according to department policies, procedures, and protocols.</li>
