We believe in creative thinking and collaboration to help build a better mobility experience for everyone, improving people's ability to move – whether for work or play.</p> <br> <p></p> <h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b> What we do: </b></h2> <p>The Senior Counsel, International Trade Compliance, in close collaboration with and at the direction of the Chief Compliance Officer, is responsible for the overall direction and implementation of Supernal's export compliance program. Supernal is a key player in the eVTOL arena of the aerospace industry, and as such export and trade compliance are vital to our long-term success. This role will play a strategic part in that success as we ensure compliance with various US and international export and trade compliance regimes.</p> <h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b> What you can do:</b></h2> <ul> <li>Active ownership of and accountability for export compliance and trade compliance programs, including day-to-day management and strategic development and implementation</li> <li>Manage and provide day-to-day oversight of growing team of export compliance professionals</li> <li>Establish clear processes for handling export and import licensing, trade authorization, and other requests and requirements and lead all aspects of and audit internal systems for maintaining such licenses and authorizations</li> <li>Implement period review process of company export policies and procedures to ensure they are up to date and fully implemented</li> <li>Provide guidance and implement procedures for the accurate sharing of export-controlled items with various non-US entities including partners, suppliers, and affiliates</li> <li>In collaboration with the broader export team, provide timely and thoughtful advice to ensure accurate classifications and country of origin determinations, technology transfers, and other exports meet licensing requirements</li> <li>Negotiate and advise on export and trade related clauses for a wide variety of agreements with vendors, suppliers, and strategic partners</li> <li>Supervise and implement dynamic export compliance training program and specific, tailored training needs as they arise</li> </ul> <h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>What you can contribute:</b></h2> <ul> <li>Law degree (J.D.) required, and admission (or ability to register as in-house counsel) to practice law where located. Candidates must be in good standing in all jurisdictions in which they are currently admitted to practice law</li> <li>8+ years experience in International Trade Compliance or export practice at a major law firm and/or as an in-house counsel</li> <li>Knowledge of drafting, filing, and managing export licenses</li> <li>Experience drafting and managing technology control plans</li> <li>Prior history of handling export compliance issues relating to non-US person candidates and employees</li> <li>Experience providing effective trade compliance and export training to diverse groups of employees with varying degrees of export knowledge</li> <li>Ability to exercise stellar judgment</li> <li>Excellent ability and willingness to lead in complex and sometimes ambiguous situations</li> <li>Must be a standout colleague - within the compliance department, the Office of the General Counsel, and throughout the Supernal enterprise</li> <li>Outstanding people-management skills</li> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</li> <li>Self-starter and someone with ability to work independently in an effective and efficient manner</li> <li>Ability to draft substantive reports within strict deadlines, lead presentations to executive leadership and governmental personnel</li> <li>A great teammate who enjoys interacting with people and working on group projects</li> <li>Ability to distill and articulate legal concepts into concise and plain English that business partners can both understand and readily act upon</li> </ul> <h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>You may also be able to contribute:</b></h2> <ul> <li>In-house experience with an organization in the aerospace or defense industry is a plus but not required</li> <li>Expertise in the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Experience and expertise working with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) a plus</li> <li>Experience developing, implementing, and running export control plans regarding the sharing of data and information on various IT platforms preferred</li> </ul> <br> <p></p> <p> Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background check.
