As one of the world's most influential cultural platforms, SoundCloud holds a singular market position as both a music-streaming service with the largest catalogue of music, and an artist services and distribution business to help artists grow long-term, successful careers.</p> <p> SoundCloud is looking for a commercial lawyer to join its Business &amp; Legal Affairs team in New York City, reporting to the Vice President, Product Counsel in Berlin. We are looking for a collaborative, energetic, business-savvy attorney with transactional experience supporting marketing, advertising and business development teams. You will face unique challenges, work with amazing people, and take on a role that will ultimately shape the way that music and audio is created and consumed around the world.</p> <p><b> Key Responsibilities:</b></p> <ul> <li>Provide ongoing legal support for SoundCloud's various marketing and advertising activities, with a focus on advanced media and technology, online and mobile</li> <li>Review, draft, negotiate and manage key contracts such as marketing deals, terms and conditions for digital advertising buys/IO's, ad tech agreements, ad reseller and programmatic contracts, and sponsorships</li> <li>Respond promptly to legal requests from Marketing, Ad Sales, Partnerships and Business Development and other relevant client groups</li> <li>Advise on intellectual property rights issues including copyright and trademark</li> <li>Deliver timely, pragmatic, and business-focused legal counsel to internal business teams, even in ambiguous situations</li> <li>Ensure compliance with regulatory obligations and deal with regulatory bodies as required with a particular focus on privacy (GDPR, CPRA, and other privacy regulations) and digital advertising issues</li> <li>Coordinate daily with U.S.- and EU-based stakeholders across Business &amp; Legal Affairs, Marketing, Product, Engineering and Security</li> <li>Provide guidance on business and legal risks, and company policies, to relevant stakeholders</li> <li>Partner with NYC based Senior Product Counsel on product and regulatory matters</li> </ul> <p><b>Experience and Background:</b></p> <ul> <li>2+ years of attorney experience preferably in the marketing, privacy, and ad tech/digital publisher space</li> <li>Knowledge of privacy and data protection law both in the U.S. and Europe, including GDPR and CPRA</li> <li>Experience with dealmaking and contract drafting</li> <li>Experience with e-commerce, digital or physical products</li> <li>Entrepreneurial mindset; flexible, self-starting and hard-working</li> <li>Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple urgent projects concurrently</li> <li>Excellent business judgment, communication and interpersonal skills</li> <li>Strong written and oral communication skills</li> <li>J.D. or LL.M and excellent academic credentials</li> <li>New York bar admission in good standing or eligible to register in New York as in-house counsel</li> <li>Enthusiastic about SoundCloud!!</li> </ul> <br> <p></p> <p><i> The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $120,000 annually. The final salary offered will be determined based on relative experience, skills, internal equity, and location.
