Counsel will work closely with in-house legal teams and business teams to guide and advise on eDiscovery best practices and guidelines. This includes working across various Gallagher divisions for records policies, maintenance, development, and implementation of eDiscovery technology. Counsel will direct collections on complex litigation matters, subpoenas and preservation requests. </div> <div></div> <div> <br> Preferred candidates will have law firm and/or corporate eDiscovery experience in U.S. state and federal courts, responding to subpoenas and discovery requests. The candidate will have confirmed experience with eDiscovery project planning, litigation hold implementation, and data culling/collection. The candidate will also have technical and working knowledge of eDiscovery platforms, and knowledge of legal matter management and project management skills. Experience with insurance coverage and professional liability matters would be relevant. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, excellent critical thinking and analytical ability, confirmed organizational ability, work well within a team, and be a self-starter. </div> <div></div> <div> <br> This role will report to and work within a team of litigation attorneys led by Gallagher’s Chief Litigation Counsel. </div> <div> <br> </div> <div> The position will be located at Gallagher’s corporate headquarters in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. Gallagher can accommodate a hybrid remote/in-office schedule. </div>Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Handle all aspects of eDiscovery to support Gallagher litigation, including electronic document preservation, collection, and review. </li> <li>Work collaboratively with various stakeholders at Gallagher, including IT and business employees, as well as Gallagher litigation counsel, in implementing litigation holds, collecting, reviewing and ultimately producing ESI.</li> <li> Assist in relevancy of scope of discovery with Gallagher litigation counsel and outside counsel (e.g. custodians, search terms, and date ranges). Work with outside counsel to manage document review on complex litigation matters.</li> <li> Advise and provide support to the business stakeholders as it relates to compliance with document retention obligations and eDiscovery policies across all IT platforms and technology.</li> <li> Refine, develop and implement standard ESI protocols. Review and update protocols, training materials, and workflows. Provide attestation to or testimony concerning same.</li> <li> Manage and respond to subpoenas for documents and informal document requests. Work independently to negotiate objections, search terms, and other terms of Gallagher’s responses to subpoenas and discovery requests. Review documents for responsiveness and privilege. </li> <li>Maintain subject matter expertise on legal and regulatory obligations relating to records management.</li> <li> Advise on legal and technological concerns relating to eDiscovery.</li> </ul> Qualifications: <div> Required: </div> <ul> <li>Law degree and 8 years related experience required.</li> </ul> <div> Highly Preferred: </div> <ul> <li> The candidate shall possess J.D. degree from an accredited law school and a license to practice law under the Bar of any state that enables admission to practice as in-house counsel in Illinois.</li> <li> Candidates with direct litigation experience are preferred.
